LOL! Gotcha. Actually, it took me a while to get the song right because I seem to always forget to do the MMM-MMM part and would start singing thus, screwing everyone else up.

I would like the lyrics to "I can't help falling in love with you" if you don't mind please! Thanks!!! :-)

Does anyone have the lyrics to pass it on with all the verses? Could you PM me? I'd really appreciate it. I'm trying to get a copy for our chapter since I don't think we sing all the right words. thanks!

Like most chapters, we sing pass it on, but I have never heard of pinning. We do once around for sisterhood, 2x lavalier, 3x Pearl/Promise Ring and 4x Engagement.

We also aren't allowed candles in our house lol so we have used everything from electric candles... to flashlights ... to those push lights that they have sold on tv to put in like hallways hahaha... yeah..

How do you announce a candle-pass? We put a white or red (depending on what it is) in the President's mailbox.

We have had one fraternity (Delta Sigma Phi) come over a few times to lavalier or pearl their girlfriends. Its so cute, they serenade You've Lost that Lovin Feeling and they make an aisle and the guy walks through with the ring or Lavalier... its so cute. I've only seen it twice and I'm a super-senior, so most members don't know/remember that its coming lol.

candlelight song

Do you know the candlelight song? We always used it for our ceremony, and I just assumed everyone did. It goes:
Candlelight, burning bright, cast your glow upon the girls of Sigma K. Light the road that leads to fame, thus to help us on our way. We shall smile, all the while, dreaming of the days when all hearts were gay. When the bonds of friendship fond, were lighted by the candlelight of Sigma K.

I know the tune, but have no idea what other song it might have gone to.This was long ago, but I still associate it with all candlelight ceremonies. On the day of the ceremony, the boyfriend sent a single rose to the house with a card on it saying "candlelight tonight" that stayed in the front lobby until after the ceremony.

We sing pass it on for the first (friendship/sisterhood), second (lavalier), and fourth (pregnant) candle passings. For engagement (third time around) we sing "goin' to the chapel"- it's always fun because it gets everyone excited!!

For my candlelight, I came to our chapter house at about 5AM and left a giant poster with "We have a candlelight tonight" and my candle on the first floor, where everyone would see it. To announce a candlelight in our chapter, a sister gives the President a decorated candle (or in my case, leaves a candle in the house for someone to discover). Generally, only the President knows whose ceremony it is. For weddings, we circle up and sing "From out of the night" to the bride and pass the candle around the circle only once.

We sing:
They say there's a man for each sigma
A man who will love you always
Come along with us
To the sigma triangle
Come and tell us your young man's name
They say that your love is the right one
The one you've been waiting for
Good wishes to you, and wedding bells too
That your love will be true evermore

And "Going to the chapel" if you're getting married.

When I was a collegian, our big sis arranged the candlelight and we tried to have them at major chapter events, such as dances or retreats. We passed the candle once for friendship, then lavaliered, pinned, engaged and pregnant (for alumnae.) It's interesting how different chapters and schools attach importance to different things ... at my school lavaliered was like wearing a guy's class ring, whereas pinned meant you had an understanding and would soon be formally engaged.
