Saw the movie this afternoon. It was a very good way to pass the afternoon. I definitely liked the book better though. Meryl Streep was perfect for the part.

I don't like how they have her going to Northwestern in the movie.

She was no longer an alcoholic on the road to getting her PhD.:(

I saw it on Friday and enjoyed it. I read the book over a year ago and I liked the movie better.

I saw the movie yesterday, and while I thought it wasn't bad, I definitely prefer the book :)

Saw the movie and read the book. I didn't really like the way the movie ended and prefered the book ending. I also didn't like how Lily had a much smaller role. Wasn't SHE the one who was supposed to get into an accident and not Emily? Emily got mono in the book!

I loved the book! I also read her other book "Everyone Worth Knowing". If you like "The Devil Wears Prada" then you'll like this one. This one is about a girl who gets a job with a PR company in New York and basically her job is to organize parties and make sure she is seen at them. He personal life is invaded by the papparazzi when she is "seen dating" New York's "It Man".

I can't wait to see "The Devil Wears Prada" movie.

I liked her other book as well. :)
@ TauAlumna, yeah in the book Lily and Andy lived together, Lily was working on her PhD in Russian, had a pretty severe drinking problem, had the car accident that really prompted Andy to realize her priorities and such, etc.

Saw it last night with the husband who actually enjoyed it.

Their offices are in the building that hubby and I used to work in together!

As I watched some of the ridiculous things that the boss wanted, I thought, memories....I've had 2 bosses like her and the things they think they should get are obscene.

Question - in all the commercials they showed the Meryl line about "where's my coffee" with the ending - "did she go to Rwanda for the beans or something?". In the movie she said "did she die or something?". I thought the Rwanda line was a lot funnier, but maybe they were trying to be pc or something. Regardless, why would they constantly show advertisements with a line they cut?

In case you didn't know, Lauren Weisberger is a sorority woman. More specifically, she's an AEPhi from Cornell!

She's also a great writer! I just finished the book and really enjoyed it.

I started to read the book but could not finish it -- too girly for me! But I LOVED the movie! Soooo good! I left in such a good mood.

the movie was okay, though a definite chick flick.

I saw the movie on Tuesday. While I enjoyed the movie, I was really disappointed they changed some of the story. There was no reason for her boyfriend to be turned into a chef from a school teacher. I hate the ending too. I was waiting for Andy to tell of her boss and she just walked away. I wish I hadn't read the book before seeing the movie as I wouldn't have been so disappointed.

Love going to the movies in Florida during the summer!

We had a girls night out tonite, my mom 2 sisters & I. Got kids packs for our movie going refreshments. 20minutes into the movie, the lights flicker. Then the screen goes blank & the lighting in the theatre is obviously emergency lights. We waited a while till an AMC employee came in & said the lights & the movie would be on in 15minutes. 10minutes later another guy comes in to tell us the bad news. Lights out in the entire theatre & no chance of them going back on tonight. Refunds tho for our tickets.

I saw A Devil Wears Prada this weekend and enjoyed it so much! It was hilarious to me (well some parts).

AOII_LB93 07-30-2006 08:38 PM

I just finished the book...it wasn't bad, but with you all saying how they changed it, I will most likely wait until it's on HBO to see the movie now. The end (as you all are describing it) sounds far more anticlimactic than the book.
