Do you think that everything that is important in the news is covered by the media? It was mentioned by commentators like Tim Russert the night of the election. Tennessee wasn't controversial and ongoing like the Florida story. There was nothing to cover. In term of politics and history, it was an important lesson and story.

my biggest problem with the guy is that he can't even put together a complex sentence on his own - still thinking about that "fuzzy math" comment during the debates :rolleyes:

don't even get me started on his republican agenda ~ ie: making a fetus eligible for healthcare. On his way to making abortion illegal. Thats nice, a man making a woman's decision.


With all that though, I still think that a majority of his downfalls have been from circumstance. The economy would have sucked even if Gore had been president. We would have bashed him too. Either way, we are stuck with W for a least another year.

of course there was nothing to cover. because the controversy was somewhere else. i could care less if he didn't win tennessee. the fact of the matter remains that it all came down to florida. period. people never don't harp too much about what happened during the game in the second quarter. if it came down to the wire, the end is what people are going to have something to say about.

You might not care if he didn't win Tennessee, but without a doubt Al Gore did. The fact remains, he lost his home state, and a candidate is not elected President without winning his home state.

i'm pretty sure al gore cared about it as well. either way, that's not the point i'm arguing, the point is that shady business went on in florida.

It IS a bogus statement.

It's not a legitimate point that if a presidential candidate can't carry his home state, he won't win the election. It's a legitimate point that if a presidential candidate cannot win at least half the electoral votes he will not win the election. Home state doesn't really matter -- if Gore had won Florida he would have won the election regardless of Tennessee. Of course we'll never find out who legitimately won Florida, but if we did find out that he had, Tennessee would not have mattered.

Ditto on the reverse -- if he had won Tennessee, Florida wouldn't have mattered. And therein lies the beauty of the electoral college. Theoretically, every state matters.

The fact is that, not knowing who actually won Florida, none of the states mattered in 2000. The election was not decided by the U.S., it was decided by the Supreme Court.

let's move on....what's done is done. so the man sometimes has to THINK a minute before he speaks....so the man should sometimes think TWO minutes before he speaks ;)....and yeah, this isn't a perfect country.....but it's the best one out there, IMHO, and i'd rather be here than anywhere else (well, i could chill in italy for a few wks, but i'd wanna come home eventually). y'all can complain about bush all you want to, but i think he did a better job than gore would have with the whole 9/11 situation. one presidency can continue on to the next.....maybe, JUST MAYBE, we were so cool in the economy when clinton was around b/c of what regan and bush did before him....and maybe, JUST MAYBE, we're in the pooper b/c of what clinton did before bush #2. just a thought to ponder......right wingers, holla back! ;)
