SAIrose....we did have SAI; I just wasn't sure if that is what is was. I actually ended up joining Mu Phi Epsilon which is a music fraternity. I guess SAI is for girls, I believe it is Phi Mu Alph which is for guys, and Mu Phi Epsilon - co-ed. No house though, so don't anyone go getting excited.

Now about that weight thing.......you are all having a decent discussion; it seems like you realize that what is good in one person's eyes isn't always the same in another. I would have to say that most of my days at college I was probably about 20 pounds overweight. However.....I did get a bid from DG so.....go figure!

I've seen "stuff your face fatties" that are amazingly well put together and dress wonderfully, carrying designer bags and whatnot.

I've seen motivated and healthy eating fat women that dress like grungy slobs or any other number of things.

In my bigger days, I ran the gamut from being well put-together in couture to scrubbing it in sweats. The only reason I was ever overweight is because of hypothyroidsim.

You can't really tell. I'm sure you'd like to think you can, but you can't.

You can't tell what an overweight person is like by the way they dress, no more than you can tell what a thin person is like by the way they dress.

All I was saying with the concern about overweight people was that: I would seriously consider them on basis of personality above all, since I know that overeating is indeed a compulsive disorder stemming from loneliness. I know, because I suffer from it too.

HOWEVER I reserve the right to express my concern over NMs and actives who moan and groan and do nothing to show they've tried. I would care if I knew of medical problems their family suffered from (in which case I'd go into ultra-mommy mode- I swear, I need a pet to channel my energies into) If they keep to a healthy diet and exercise but still can't bring their weight down, then more power to them for being healthier than some of my skinnier sisters.

At the same time, those who don't eat healthily enough, either in variety or quantity, often find themselves being gently coaxed into an extra dish of much needed nutrients. We had a bulimic sister who subsisted on nothing but doritos and diet coke. This was of HUGE concern to everyone and we did our best to help her.

I think I'm meandering here, but I'll say it again: I don't care about the weight of PNMs (if I worried about everyone I came across I'd be exhausted), but once they become my sisters, they're family. And being family means you do your best for one another.

I'm glad everyone on here is openminded. That SigepStud guy has, unfortunately, a point: I love SigEps as much as anyone, but on some campuses looks are indeed a factor. Isn't that at least partially true at the uber competitive schools? I'm guessing from the all the comments on GC about huge southern rushes, since I go to school in the north.
