DITTO!!!

I am surrounded by gay men on a daily basis (don't ask, it's just something about the hotel business). They are some of the most entertaining, outlandish people I've ever met...and the only ones that ever accepted me at 500lbs! SO, if we could pledge gay men, I'd take 'em in a heartbeat. But, alas, we can't.

Lesbians: I had a great friend who was gay, and she was a beautiful woman ( a Halle Beery lookalike). I often wanted to ask her to AI, but we've lost touch. Nothing about her sexuality ever offended me or bothered me. I actually haven't known (well, to my knowledge) any other lesbians, but if I did, they were nice to me! I'm sure we had one or two in my chapter...and I still love 'em!


I have a very controversial opinion: I believe that no one is 100% straight or 100% homosexual. We all have both tendencies, so, who am I to "discriminate"???

My father was a nasty homophobe and we never got along when this topic was broached. I am sorry when someone lets something this small (IMHO) become a reason to dislike someone when there are PLENTY of other, much more legitimate reasons!

Well, this isn't a perfect world, therefore you're going to have people who do not want to bend with changes and etc throughout time.

Currently we have a girl who is openly bi-sexual and will join us in the fall. I'm good friends with her and I frankly don't care who she wants to fool around with! Hell, more power to her, girls at least shave on a regular basis!

It's a pink triangle hung near an entrance to let people know that the owners/residents of the building are gay friendly. If I'm not mistaken, the rainbow flags mean that as well. (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong)

Personally, what others do in bed is none of my business. However, it gets sticky when you're talking about an organization. Things get more difficult when you have two members of the same chapter dating each other. All of a sudden, you add sexual tension to a place that was once free of it. Things grow more complicated when those two members break up. I've seen it happen and have had to clean up afterwards. It's not pretty. This is a hard question, one to which I do not really have an answer.Most do.

oooohhhh... cool. i never knew that

to my knowledge, i don't think there are any lesbians in my chapter, but i do know of some fraternities on my campus as well as on others with gay members. it seems to not be an issue....as it wouldn't be since they are all now initiated and highly active members.

this is about the one issue that i am pretty "liberal" on, too, killarney, so don't feel bad! ;)

being a theatre person, i have a lot of friends who are wonderful actors, singers, and dancers...who are all wonderful people, as well as being gay. i don't know as many lesbians as i do gay men, but i would like to think that my chapter would never discriminate against a woman simply for her sexual orientation. i realize that some may find it a bit uncomfortable....but to that i say, "please get over yourself." not every homosexual is after YOU... :rolleyes: and if they are, rather than being offended, be flattered. hello? someone finds you attractive...when did that become as insult? "omg...what are you thinking thinking that i am cute?? how dare you!?" :rolleyes: :p i also don't necessarily agree with homosexuality for religious reasons, but i don't knock someone else for either the choices they make or for who they are (whichever category homosexuality does indeed fall under...the jury is still out for me on that one)...

i love love love gay ppl (what is more fun than a drag show and being called out for being straight? :) ), i love love love the gay ppl in my life for they are some of my BEST friends, and i hate hate hate the ppl who discriminate against ANYone they don't know anything about.

I'm not sure about the rainbow, but that's what the pink triangle means.

The rainbow flag means that the establishment is owned by/services the gay community specifically (ie gay clubs/bars, bookstores, etc). The pink triangle means it is a Gay friendly establishment.

Here's an interesting tidbit...the pink triangle came from the Holocaust...Jews got two yellow tringles (forming the Star of David) and gays (men only, they believed that lesbianism was cureable) who were also persacuted got a yellow triangle pointing up with a pink triangle pointing down to form a pink and yellow six point star...

Sorry, I have this thing for WWII...although don't talk to me about most other history or I will fall asleep on you!

If the rainbow flag or pink triangle is on a business it means that it is gay friendly. That does not mean that they CATER to only gay people or it is gay owned.

If a person wears the rainbow flag or the pink triangle, that means the person is either LGBT or an ally to the gay community.

Rainbow flag just means that it is gay friendly (i.e. gay people know that their patronage are welcome), not necessarily OWNED by gay people [although it COULD be and oftentimes is]. I know a straight guy who is married (to a woman, that is) with kids, and they fly the Canada flag at their house and a rainbow flag.

This is because he is an art dealer (runs the biz from his home) and has lots of gays customers, so he wants to show that his is a gay-friendly business. Pink triangle, ditto. They live out in the country, where the nearest neighbour is 2 miles away and of course, the neighbours don't even know what the flag means...they just think "Oh, look at those pretty colours"....LOL
