I think I love...
the stones that most of you all find ugly! :D
Garnet: one of my favorites, especially the mozambique garnet. I actually don't like rubies because I don't find the red to be "deep" enough compared to a garnet. Peridot: I love this in studs. I love when I can find the kind of "olive" colored colored ones. Smozy quartz: again in studs Champagne colored diamonds, mostly in studs (or like a tennis bracelet) I have a champagne brown pearl set in a "shell" that some folks go ga-ga over when they see it. Finally, my birthstone is aquamarine--not my favorite, but I do have a cool college class ring with the stone. |
Oooo, champagne pearls are gorgeous. I have my eye on some in the Ross-Simons catalog.

I love Sapphires!!! (Damn I picked the right sorority!!Its our stone)
I would die for a sapphire and diamond tennis bracelet! One of my sisters got this awesome engagement ring with a huge diamond (sorry don't know the technical stuff on it) with two beauitfuly cut sapphires on each side of the diamond. (I am so jealous) I'm a November baby so I've never really cared for my stone. But its been growing on me now, and I kinda like it. :) |
Have y'all ever seen the "gem" created from ashes of Mt. St. Helen's? I've been told that they come in different colors, but the one I saw was a deep, bright teal - breathtaking!!
|
Isn't it called Helenite? I agree, it's gorgeous.

I've always liked rubies :)

You can also have diamonds made out of your cremated ashes. It's called a Memorial Diamond. I did my informative speech on it this past semester. Check out Life Gem for more information. It's rather economical considering the cost of simple cremation or the cost of a funeral and casket. I know that someday I'd love to be cremated into a diamond....a Blue one...something my grandchildren can wear and pass on and say, "That's Grandma Amy" and smile LOL!

I adore pink sapphires - I love pink and I think they are darling.
I also like deep blue sapphires, my parents gave me a bracelet that has blue-black ones, and they are gorgeous. I'm partial to aquamarines because we have a family heirloom ring that is one, and of course diamonds are a girls best friend! |

I've always liked rubies because they're my birthstone.
When I was picking out my pin, I fell in love with the one with sapphires and pearls, so I'm on a huge sapphire kick lately (but only the dark blue ones, really). Honestly, I've never really liked diamonds all that much. For something that's supposedly so spectacular and expensive, they're... clear. I've just always thought that was kind of anticlimactic or something. |
I love:
Garnets, and have since I was a little girl. I inherit this FABULOUS garnet heirloom ring when I graduate college - its a huge emerald cut garnet set in yellow gold with pave diamonds on either side... its very art-deco and 1920's-ish Topaz - my birthstone. I didn't like it until my parents bought me a necklace set in white gold - and the yellow topaz and white gold just look so beautiful together!!! All pearls, especially black pearls or pink pearls - sooo beautiful. Lastly, that pale pale opaque blue stone that I can't remember the name of. It's very unusual looking. |
Of course I love diamonds , and diamonds and pearls are our sorority stones.....(yes like the Prince song ha ha)
But my fave gem is EMERALD......my birthstone and just so damn pretty. I love green, so..... for my college graduation my dad had the most beautiful pendant made for me. It is a slide for an omega necklace and it is a kind of freeform gold piece with a single 1.5 carat flawless oval emerald in the center. It is insured, of course, but it holds great sentimental value and I lost it for over a year!!!!!!! I cannot tell you how ecstatic I was to hold it in my hand again!!!! |
