I saw it on Tuesday at a premier, and it was ok. It's worth at least a matinee if you have to pay for it. I did like that there are a lot of black names behind the scenes with this movie.

For anyone that did see the movie thus far....did anyone else peep how bad Golden Brooks skin looked on her face? Her facial skin was definitely going through somethng, and they couldn't cover it up.

I'm looking forward to seeing it...should be fun.

I saw it last night and I agree. If you go to see this movie, have LOW expectations and make sure it's a matinee (it's definitely not worth $8-9) then I think you will get your money's worth. :)

KimL---was it just me or was Djimon Honsou's character (Latifah's love interest) almost painfully stiff? Did the brother lose a bet and have to be in this movie? :confused:

There were a lot of Black actors in this movie. I think the only Black person that wasn't in it was me. *LOL*

Golden's skin was HORRIBLE! I was like :o She need proactive or something- I mean it worked for Jessica Simpson. My fiance even commented on Golden's skin. Clearly, simply caking the makeup on was not working.

I liked the movie. It wasn't very deep or anything, but I enjoyed it, as did my fiance, and we thought it was worth the good laughs. I liked it better than Guess Who which I also saw this weekend. I gotta help out my peeps on their opening weekends.;)

Ok, I'm glad you brought this up, because even though he looked very good in the movie...there was something that I just couldn't put my finger on while watching him....and I think you hit it...I wonder if he really wanted to be in it.

The movie wasn't "deep", but that's how it usually is when you decide to venture off. Folks tend to "hate" and do whatever they can to set you back. I wanted to see what Jorge ended up looking like after his "makeover". LOL

I'm sorry Keish was "cute" as a child on the Cosby show, but IMO, she can't act. :o She WORKED my nerves. I think it's her voice.

I saw the movie yesterday and thought it was funny, if predictable. (Adele Givens/Cheryl Underwood) gave the film its best comedic moments.

Queen's love interest? Dude's voice was monotone in every scene. His acting could have used more range. But the by-play between he and Queen's daughter was nice to see develop.

I see Alfre Woodard is now going for the Aretha Franklin "lifetime achievement award." Whatever scene she was in, "da girls" was front and center. :rolleyes:

I agree with 2D--->Keisha needs some time off-Broadway.

The club scene was "wild." :D

I wasn't disappointed at all by this movie - but then again i wasn't expecting too much. Between the poems and that little boy chasing down girls with the camcorder, it was a pretty solid "o.k." movie.

I saw it on Friday.....I have to say that I was surprised, I think that I went in there with lowered expectations...I thought that the lil boy that was chasing girls with his camcorder was one of the funniest people in the whole movie. Queen's love interest couldn't act, the first time he came in the shop I was like.....what is he doing:confused:

My late aunt used to make it. You make it like homemade bread, BUT you place the dough in a bundt cake pan. After it has baked, you turn the pan upside down, like you would a pound cake. When you want your piece, you pull the "piece" you want.

I don't know why it's called monkey bread, but it's good! :D
