I know one thing, (I just read the article on www.MSNBC.com), and if the husband DID do it, he is dumb as rocks. Why in the hell, if he did kill her, would he TELL them that he was in that area when there was a pretty good possibility that the bodies would turn up later?

On another note, if that is Lacy, that is so horrible. That means that her body was so decomposed that the baby just came out...whoever it is, I feel sorry for the family...I really do. They said that the woman was wearing maternity clothes and the baby had his umbilical cord still attached. **shaking my head**

Gonna give him the benefit o' the doubt, so far... but unless you weight down a body with Mafia-style cement overshoes, chances are when the body decomposes it'll again float to the surface.

Don't forget that the cops probably have evidence that is not generally available or revealed to the media for fear it could tip their hand and cause another OJ slow speed media circus. If the evidence is such to point to Scott Peterson's involvement, they might confront him again in an interview room.

Agreed. We have to remember that if this is Laci, and she was in the bay since Christmas Eve, she has been under water for about 5 month now.

The coroners have their work cut out for them. If there is only a section of the body found, it doesn't help them much.

It will be interesting to see what turns out.

Laci had a tattoo of a sunflower on her ankle. Depending upon how badly the body was decomposed, they could make a really quick identification just based on that. I'm not sure whether or not the body was that far gone, or if they're not releasing such information, but...yeah. I don't know what to say about it. It's so sad, especially if it's NOT her because well....WHO IS IT THEN?

Yeah, I hope missing pregnant women are not an epidemic in this country!
I really hope they find sufficient evidence to charge somebody with this. :(

Unfortunately, from the article I just read, the womans body had no head or legs. :(

I don't want to be all gruesome here, and I didn't pay much attention in my science classes, but is it possible that the lake she was in caused the body to become so badly decomposed to make the head or legs come off? :(

OrigamiTulip 04-15-2003 06:16 PM

I doubt it. Her head and legs were probably removed so that her teeth and tattoo couldn't be used to identify her.

I don't know, I think that that's what AlphaSigOU was saying on the previous page. It could be, if (and again I am sorry if this is too gruesome), if she was decomposed to the point that the fetus exited the body (not by birth), then that wouldn't be too hard to fathom, although I wouldn't totally disregard BetaRose's theory! :(

~~edited to add~~~
If someone really didn't want her to be found, wouldn't her hands have been mutilated as well? I think that this was just a coincidence and that the body was just decomposed.

I think that I have spoken enough about this today, I am starting to get kinda somber! :(

there is going to be a press conference on fox news by the modesto police

when???

texas*princess 04-15-2003 07:27 PM

it's going on right now.. no real news yet.. just saying they are waiting for DNA test results & there was a statement on behalf of the family.

LuaBlanca 04-15-2003 10:59 PM

Can someone post here when the news breaks? The only tv sets I'm around are glued to the war 24/7 and GOD FORBID I want to hear about something NOT taking place in IRAQ. I'd check online, but all the news sites I frequent are full of the War headlines, I had to dig around before I could find anything else!
