Sounds like you are doing thie the right way! I made my resolution this week not to eat ANY MORE Chinese food. This week is the second time in a month I've been sick after eating it. I have lost a lot of weight (mostly muscle) from all of this, since I haven't been feeling up to working out.

Ugh.

OT: I got an invite to some pretty fun looking parties in NYC, I forgot your e-mail though. IM me and I will forward!

Thanks you are so sweet. You looked great in October when I met you. :)

PM me and we'll get together and knock the men out with our combined hotness!

I just read through the posts and ya'll have really motivated me :)

I can't start working out until next week b/c I am working this weekend but I need to hit the gym-it has been way too long (about 2 months :()

For those of you that are considering taking a night time job-don't -it really screws up your metabolism plus it seems all we eat around here is junk food and drink caffeine-it is hard to be on a healthy diet. At least I am down from a a 12 pack of cokes to 1 a day.

so my goal is to lose 5-7# so I can be at about 115-we'll see how this goes. Of course it would be nice if I could stop smoking-blah!

Well, if it's bigger back you need, I can spare you some of mine. :) My backside has always been "poofier", as you put it. I guess the good side of that is at least I'm popular with the brothas! ;)

I just thought I'd chime in here. I actually didn't make a new year's resolution. I decided to live a healthier lifestyle a couple months ago.

I've always been the athletic type. Unfortunately, my first full-time job after college killed that. :( 40 hours a week behind a desk with copius amounts of coffee, the office cookie and doughnut platters floating around, and only one hour to go hunt down some Carl's Junior for lunch didn't do wonders for my waistline.

A year later I am now back at university working towards my Master's degree. My uni has a fantastic brand new gym facility. I now exercise a couple times a week for free. I am working my way up to doing cardio 3 days/week and strength training 2 days/week.

On a side note, I know a lady who is a certified fitness instructor (with a college degree and everything) and she does beauty pageants. She has a website called http://www.fitnesswithmaria.com that has some basic info. You can e-mail her and she will answer your questions and such. She's a super-sweet lady who loves to help people live healthier lifestyles. Maybe she'll inspire some of you.

I don't normally do too bad with food. My big problem is with Pepsi. I don't drink alcohol at all, but I could knock out a case of Pepsi if you gave it to me. I have learned to adjust to the diet version and am doing much better now. I'm also a fan of sweets/candy. It's about just saying no. :)

Soooo....I am in it for the long haul. I've been going to the gym for 3 months. Even my boyfriend said "I'm impressed. I thought you'd quit after a couple weeks." Thanks, hun. But, he is behind my goals and is excited to see me move forward.

Best of success to all of you!

.....Kelly :)

..

I am so happy. Two days in a row I've worked out. Thank God!!!! I didn't do a whole lot of cardio, but enough to get my heart rate up. I'll work my way up. Anyway I just wanted to post as I drink my water and try to plan a healthy dinner tonight. Good luck everyone.

I need to stop beating myself up about eating. I try to stick around 1000-1200 calories a day, but on days like today when I end up eating 1400-1500, I feel bad about myself. Really, if spent all day in bed staring at the ceiling and not moving, I probably burn 1500 calories just keeping my body going, so if I eat 1500 AND work out on top of that, I know I'll still lose weight, and probably avoid killing my metabolism in the process.

I'm just having a fat day...my pants aren't fitting as well as they normally do and there's no reason I would've gained anything, so chances are I'm just retaining water, or it could be that because I've been working my abs a lot, the muscle underneath the layer of flab is starting to become more defined, which will temporarily shove my gut out until the fat burns away.

I REALLY want to be skinny, but I'm so sick of dieting. I miss the days when I'd lose 1-2 pounds a day. I was so much heavier then that the weight just flew off. Now, I probably lose a pound or two a week, so of course I don't notice results all the time. But telling myself this and being motivated to work out and constantly watch myself are two different things.

I thought I'd bump this thread...

It's February and I suppose a good time to see how everyone is doing. It's around the time of the year that I notice the crowds at my gym thinning out, but I'm sure that you guys are all still at it. Right? Check in! Let us know how you're doing!!

I only went to the gym 4 times last week, so I feel like a huge slacker. I will be going tonight, though, for sure. I wanted to go running outside because it's so warm, but it's raining.

AXOLiz 02-03-2003 05:33 PM

I bought this yoga/pilates tape from Wal-mart of all places and I've been doing it every day. It seems to be working (or at least did until this week...girl problems and all, blah). Problem was I ate waaaaay too much this weekend, but I made a point to keep working out, so if I keep on going this week with my diet, a few days aren't going to kill me.

Y'all have to help me stay motivated though....the guy I kind of (ok, REALLY) like will be coming into town the last weekend of the month, and while they ALWAYS tell you to lose weight for yourself and not for other people.....well, I want to look as good as I can that weekend to make him want me even more. :) Can you blame me? I mean, he's already shown interest, so he wouldn't care if I was the same weight. I just want him to, I don't know, drool. And put out like a champ. So I think that counts as doing it for my own good. ;)

Lost 3 more lbs.

3 more to go then I have lost the 20 I wanted too. Should be at goal by next friday. Coolness.

Congrats to everyone working to improve their lives in whatever way that is.

Peaches-n-Cream 02-03-2003 07:50 PM

Ten days until my birthday! I want to lose four more pounds by then. It's possible. :)

prospectiverushee 02-04-2003 12:23 AM

I'm jumping on the weight loss bandwagon. My mom got me the Walk Away the Pounds tapes by Leslie Sansone for my birthday. I'm ashame to say I just started using them:o :) . But they are so great. I've only done the mile one tape, but I'm about to start doing the mile 2 tape soon. I do the mile 1 tape 3 times a weeks and tonight when I did it, I barely broke sweat.

Anyway, I can stand to lose about 30lbs. I got on the scale over Christmas. I'm about 164. That's not bad, but I'm 5'2 and that's a little to much weight for my height. So I'm wishing everybody luck

MoxieGrrl 02-28-2003 10:58 AM

*bump!*

How is everyone doing on their eating/fitness goals?

If anyone is looking for a good, balanced fitness plan, get this month's Self magazine. They are starting their Self Challenge 2003, and their plan sounds definitely do-able, even for lazy folk like me. :p

Still Plugging Along!

I'm still plugging away at it. I've lost 92 lbs so far, but I haven't had as much time as I'd like to work out because of group assignments and other assignments (What is with assigning group projects in GRADUATE school?! I feel like I'm in junior high!) My workout time is being cut into by my group project time, so I'm down to working out only 1-2 days a week. I try to make up for it by doing 45 min of cardio AND the full weight training circuit on those days, and by taking walks around campus whenever I have a little free time.

Prospectiverushee: Walk Away the Pounds is a great series! I started out with that, and I still try to do it on the days when I can't get to the gym. I don't like the two mile, but the three mile is pretty good. I'm going to see if her 4 mile tape is available on DVD yet and try to order it.

Good luck everyone!

AXOLiz 02-28-2003 01:33 PM

If my scale's right, I've lost 102 lbs so far. I do yoga/pilates every day and I go skiing once a week. I usually let myself have one day when I'm not as strict as normal, but on that day, I also do more exercise to compensate. I'm trying to get down to 135, and I'm at 142/143 right now (although it's getting close to fun water retention time, ahem, so I won't be weighing myself for a few days.

Hope everyone's doing well!!

Peaches-n-Cream 02-28-2003 02:53 PM

Congratulations on all of your successes! :D

I'm nearly at my goal weight so I'm doing okay, but I'm not really focused on dieting right now. I'm just trying to eat fewer carbs.
