USC Scores--UCLA Scores
DTD may have been misinformed about his comment regarding UCLA, a part of the University of California public system, and USC, a private 125 year old research university. I did an extensive report on this topic and tracked the scores. For some years SC's scores have been above UCLA's.
UCLA's purpose is to serve the citizens of California. Most of their students are from the state. Out of state enrollees are limited. USC draws from over 51 countries and particularly the states of Texas, New York, Illinois, Washington and New Jersey. The scores and information below is from the UCLA Common Data Set and the USC admission site and freshmen profile. UCLA publishes admitted scores on their site. It is necessary to view their Common Data Set to find scores of enrolled students. Here are the official numbers from the sites for 2014-2015: USC Enrolled Freshmen-----2014 ACT Composite 29-33 UCLA Enrolled Freshmen----2014 ACT Composite 25-32 UCLA Enrolled Freshmen--2014 SAT Scores CR-570-710 M-600-750 W-590-730 USC Enrolled Freshmen--2014 SAT Scores CR-620-720 M-660-760 W-640-740 Other numbers of interest: Faculty/Student Ratio UCLA 1/17 Faculty/Student Ratio USC 1/9 In the class that just entered SC here are the latest scores for enrolled freshmen: ACT Composite: 30-33 SAT Composite: 1980-2200 In the class of 2949 14% are the first in the family to enter college and 17% are Pell Grant recipients. UCLA holds the record for the most applicants of any U.S. university for spots in their freshmen class. For the report mentioned earlier I compiled copies of scores for both universities from 2008 to the present. |

New article on Malia's potential college choices:
https://www.yahoo.com/parenting/insi...970691638.html Since she wants to be a filmmaker, I'm surprised USC & UCLA are not among her choices as both have excellent film schools. |
Follow the money; once you see where Obama's donations are going (aside from his list of Universities), you can narrow it down fairly quickly. Of course, finding out who his trust is paying out to will be the real issue. You can bet the college she has picked will be receiving some "stipend" of sorts.
|
I was thinking, if Barack Obama hadn't even run for Senate, let alone President, Malia would still likely be interested in top-ranked schools. She's a triple legacy at Harvard, and a parental legacy at Columbia and Princeton. Her parents were affiliated with the University of Chicago as faculty and staff for some time as well.

***sorry to disappoint, merely BUMPING to see if anyone has heard anything further***

Political rumor mill in DC has it down to Stanford or Harvard, with most people (including people with kids at Sidwell) saying Harvard.
|
They said months ago it was between Barnard and NYU.

When the Obama's were in Los Angeles two weeks ago, they stayed at the W hotel right next to UCLA campus. The big rumor is that she took a tour of UCLA while she was so close. And UCLA does have a good film school...
