I've been trying to find out if he deserved simulation....i take it he deserved a pk? Funny how a play like that works out, a guy goes down and you have one of two choices, either resulting in something you never want to have to do....send someone, or give someone the game via pk.....you also can't deny the other squad their right though....

Italians were def the victim of earlier bad officiating...i didn't get to see this yet...but i cannot wait to

Why not award a free kick to korea???
With all who's left, the England/Brazil quarter might as well be the final, give that winner the mazoola.

England is gone :( :(
Damn am I tired after 1.5 hrs of sleep before work today

The card on Ronalndihno was pretty rought though wasn't it? But the goals he set up were absolutely beautiful! I blame Seaman for the second for Brazil though, he was caught not paying attention to what was going on.....I also think Scholes did Shiiite.

How shall the US fare????

SigmaChiCard, I feel ya. I'm down at my dad's and sleeping on the couch. I stayed up to watch the England vs. Brazil match at 11:30 PST, took a nap, and then was up again to watch the U.S. vs. Germany at 4:30am PST. Though, I missed half the game 'cos I was sleeping. My dad came in and woke me up so I wouldn't miss it! All of this lack of sleep just before we head out to a day at the county fair. Yikes.

And what did I stay up for? To watch England flail around to lose 1:2. And to watch the U.S. valiently fight to lose 1:0. :(

I don't know, I just wasn't impressed with England's playing. I was disappointed that they ran out of spark there at the end.

As for the U.S. Team. :( I only saw the last 25 minutes though, from the looks of it, the U.S. played an outstanding game. It was common knowledge that we had nothing to lose since we had already exceeded every expectation that was held for us. We figured, hey, if we win, great! If not, that's ok, no one expected us to get this far anyway. That put us in a nice position win or lose.

Also, for like the fifth time, I heard a commentator say that the U.S. should be proud because this tournament is the first time we'd ever won a single-elimination match. But, my boyfriend, who is English, is saying something different - I know he's watched a lot more soccer than I. He says that isn't so 'cause the U.S. did it at one of the previous World Cup tournaments (versus Columbia I think). I'm going to go with the sports commentators on this one. Can anyone here explain? I'm confused.

Anyway, I am pleased with Germany as it looks like they played well too - the goal was well-earned. (FYI- I agree with the referee's ruling that our one "near miss goal" was not a hand ball.) More so, I feel better knowing that Germany came out and played as if they had respect for our team and what we were capable of doing.

I am not disappointed really; I'm proud of my boys! :)

......Kelly :)

That's exactly what my schedule has been like since the world cup started. Luckily, I don't go into work until noon so I have time to catch up on my sleep.

I thought so too!

Let's go Brasil! Let's go Senegal!

Having now gotten to see the US:Germany game, I'm very proud. US beat them in every area of the game, better possession, better, more tactical attacking.....US outplayed Germany in every facet of the game.

The Only thing that frustrates me so much is that the damn announcers tried to justify that officals call of no hand-ball, and at first I'd thought it didn't cross the line, but it was a bad camera angle and I honestly think that it may have...but the announcers need to learn what justifies a hand-ball call, and it's not "clearly, that it must be intentional" BS. I'm pretty sure in my 15 years of playing that it has always been either intentional, or it gains an advantage....I'd say stopping a equalizing goal in the World Cup Quarters gains ONE HELL of an advantage...I'm not complaining about the call as much because shit happens..the only difference with it and O'Briens is that I don't think his was intentional and it didn't really gain any advantage...it def didn't stop the ball from crossing the line like that damn Germans, but don't try to rationalize it. ESPN needs to get some new announcers for their soccer games...

Also, yay to Turkey making it through, and what the HELL...how'd S.Korea beat Spain? What is going on this world cup..any more conspiracy theories HBADPi?

I presume anyone who cares already knows, i forgot to post it earlier...

Ballack nets the goal that crushes a nations hopes at glory.

But the Republic has not far to travel home...

TLAW 06-25-2002 01:23 PM

GO NIGERIA!!!!!!!!!

Okay... back to reality.
We should all be proud of how the USA played. The difference between them losing and advancing was excellent goalkeeping by Germany.
Can't wait for the next 4 years.
