DZrose, I really think you need to relax. You are fighting a losing battle. If you don't think it's funny then why don't you stop reading these posts? Can't you do something better with your time? We don't have any DZs at our school (thank god because if they were all as annoying as you I don't think I could take it!)

I'm assuming from you TWO, COUNT EM, TWO POSTS that you're fairly new here to GreekChat. So, I doubt that you're aware that threads similar to this one have been posted time and time again. Sure, no one really appreciates these nicknames, but that's not the problem here. The problem is that this topic has been discussed ad nauseum...so if someone was really interested in finding out GLO nicknames, then a search would've been better--because I doubt that GLO nicknames change every four hours.

Still, what pisses me off the most is when personal insults are thrown out...especially coming from a thread like this. A word of caution though--don't throw isht out if you can't handle isht being thrown in your face. :D

When you take a tone like that trying to convince someone that you're right you get absolutely nowhere.

On one hand, yes... I think it can be a good thing to have a sense of humor about yourself and the things you take seriously.

On the other hand if you reinforce negative stereotypes TOO strongly then in some people's minds you make them true. We also take our fraternal obligations VERY seriously and should be mad any time someone suggests that we do not.

Does this thread cross that line?

I don't really think so. Your audience is primarily made up of people already involved in the greek system or those that have a good knowledge about what it is really all about. Someone reading this thread (through the careful application of common sense) could probably pick up that Sigma Nu's weren't invisible on whatever campus they were on.. (in reference to the common nickname "Sigma Who?").

However bickering like this DOES show how petty we can be.

Get over yourselves and act like the representatives of your organizations that you are.

(I want ya'll to understand I'm not directing this at any one person, just the sudden drama that seems to have sprung up in this thread)

I'm not trying to personally attack anyone, I have read the posts on this website from time to time, mostly when I am bored out of my mind, but I just had to register because I really don't even know any greeks that would get so mad over something so ridiculaous, so I wanted to say something? And yes, i do see that there are other postings already on this topic, I don't care about that, I just think that if you are so tired of reading the same thing then why do you go to this topic and read the postings anyways? I haven't seen one good nickname for my sorority but I'm not going to get upset about it It doesn't matter what these people say, and trying to get people to stop is only going to provoke them to list more nicknames. So don't read them anymore and I think you will be able to sleep better at night.

I'm sorry, I guess I just read over your screen name too quickly to realize that it stood for Kappa Sigma (which is an awesome sorority, by the way. My Grandmother is one)

But semantics aside, why would you PURPOSELY want to offend someone like dzrose93 who doesn't think nasty nicknames are funny? It just seems rather cruel to me to purposely hurt someone's feelings and I was only trying to highlight that in my last post.

A quote from Sigma Kappa's Purpose reads..." to make a constructive contribution to the communities in which its collegiate and alumnae clubs are located by encouraging the exercise of the rights and obligations pf good citizens..." . Don't you think that saying "We don't have any DZ's at our school...but if we did, I would tell you all the nicknames just to get you more p***ed off." runs contrary to that purpose? Don't you think your Founders would think that? Your National President?

Please think about that before you type. Or, if you choose to ignore your sorority's purpose, at least choose a screen name without your letters in it (most people probably have sharper eyes than I do! lol)

I don't think we need to be rude to each other but I also don't think that anyone on here can censor what is said. This is a free country and we have the right to express how we feel. Whether good or bad, that's your own opinion, but it should not be surpressed and if you don't like it TOO BAD. I've been on this board for a long time, and not even under this name, I just don't post a million posts, but that doesn't mean that I think I'm better than any new GCer.
