OK the OTHER story-

Last year for awhile I casually dated this guy, we'll call the PEDOPHILE.

He was 38, an attorney, from the east coast, extremely intelligent, and I'll leave his greek affiliation out of it since I like the men of his fraternity and he is a blight on them.

We're at dinner one night last August, we'd been seeing each other casually for about 6 months--maybe once or twice a month when he was in town.

So he asks me "What's the biggest age difference older or younger of a guy you've slept with?"

We hadn't slept together, as the casual nature of it didn't warrant it in my book, and, as much fun as I had with him, there was something I couldn't put my finger on, so I looked at the abstinence as self-preservation until I could figure out what bugged me...

So I said five years younger is the biggest difference.

He said-- How old were the 2 of you at the time.

I said 30 and 25.

He was all, Oh, that's no big deal.

And he looked like the cat that ate the canary.

So I bit.

And you, I said.

Oh, I slept with a 16 year old when I was 36....(and as if that wasn't enough).. and we're still great friends to this day.

OK, so needless to say, that's the last time I saw him.

Friday night I get a message from him--Hey, I'm in LA for the first time in a long time, how've you been?

Well, I was curious, so I called him back, left a Hi, hope all is well. type message.

he called me later Saturday afternoon, left me a message "I've forgotten what you look like almost. I really want to see you. I'm going to a party in your neighborhood. I could come over after, around midnight or so"

AAARRRGGGHHHH.

OK, clearly I'm doing something that makes these freaks think they can do this.

Sigh.

That is just too funny... I feel bad for you though! But I'm sorry, I can't stop laughing!!!

Ok this is a little random, but I read a post on this thread about meeting people in the airport. Yea, I actually did that. When I was flying to Dallas for spring break to see *NSYNC (yay!) I had to fly out of the KCI airport, since Columbia is a small hick town with no airport. So there I am, five hours early for my flight, b/c mommy SAID I had to be there that early. (Right, whatever! ) Anyway, so there I am at gate 17A, reading my chem book and listening to some NSYNC. Then these two nasty scary guys start hitting on me, eww! Well I didn't know but there was a boy on the other side of the little lounge, he saw this whole exchange and came up to me, acted like he knew me and got me away from the guys. CHEESY I know, but it seemed like fate! This boy was my definition of what I thought a good looking guy should be. Tall (6'4"), dark hair, LIGHT green eyes, and tan. Oh yum! And he was SO sweet! Couldn't believe my luck. So he and I sit down to chat, b/c he was at Gate 17B flying to Cali. Hmmm yea still seems like fate! Anyway so we sit and chat because he is there five hours early as well! He goes to KU, is a Lambda Chi, and just seems like an all around good guy. He gives me his number, doesn't ask for mine, and we part ways. Well when I get home from Dallas I get up the guts to call him. He remembers me and we start talking everyday. The guy was just adorable, when he said he'd call he REALLY WOULD! He'd know it was me when I called, just cute little things. And man, we had some crazy stuff in common. We both had the same car, same year, just diff. colors, we both wanted Living On A Prayer to be the first song played at our weddings, our moms had the same kind of cancer when we were both 6, among other things. And I mean normally I would have told a guy stuff and he'd be like "oh me too!" But no, this guy would say something about the song, or the car, or this or that and freakily (is that a word?!) enough it'd be the SAME as mine. So he and I go on like this for a few months. On Easter weekend he drives from freaking Wichita to eat lunch with me in KC when I was on my way back to school. Man, anyway, of course this fairytale comes to an end. We ended up fighting, he told me he'd been dating a girl the entire time he and I had been dating. Uggh, anyway, so I still don't really have a REASON as to why he just up and started hating me one day, but anyway! Point of the story, the airport is a totally cool place to meet someone!! :D
Awww, I'm sorry that the story had a bad ending! :(

And you poor girlies -- epecially Amy!! Hope it all gets a LOT better soon! :D

greeklawgirl 06-11-2002 05:47 PM

Amy, I nearly choked trying to stifle my laughter here at work...you poor girl! Suddenly my life does not seem quite so bad. ;)

Things will get better, I promise!

(unintelligible part here.) Call my voice mail XXX-XXX-XXXX, you're expecting to find perfect men in LA, (yelling now) YOU'RE DREAMING AMY, DREAMING! XXX-XXX-XXXX. If you're looking for that go back to the midwest, that's where, I mean you're here in LA, if its a booty call or not, you want to feel good, you want to feel, i want to feel those breasts, you want to have a good time, so call me back at XXX-XXX-XXXX.

WTF???

Seriously people, I F&%^$^%# give up.

Go back to the midwest? I'm not even from there. lol That's how LITTLE he knows about me. He's lived here for 9 months, I've lived here for 15 years. But, whatever.

There's more, ANOTHER story of ANOTHER loser guy too, I just don't feel like typing it out right now.

Ughhhhh!!! I hope all LA guys aren't like that!!!!   Poor, poor Amy!! You should move up to San Fran...the guys here are much less obnoxious and are actually...sweet, and NORMAL!

:D Maybe a cool place to meet guys would be at the airport: we could just stand around the terminals waiting for flights from the South, the SE, the NE and the MW and swoop the guy up as he comes off the plane, starry-eyed and optimistic. By the time he would have normally bought into the materialistic, instant gratification den of inequity known as California, he would already be strung out--then you can wisk him back to live in his hometown! :D

Hey--I could open up a dating service "From Airport to Homefront." ((visions of dollarsigns dancing in my head)).

Hehehehehehe....too funny!! I will be at the airport in a few days anyhow so we'll see how that plays out ;). I'm hoping I'll meet a cute SoCal boy who's actually sweet and not a pervert (unlikely? haha), or a Southern boy...like from Texas. LOL

DeltAlum 06-11-2002 06:10 PM

Ya know,

When I was dating, way back then (I think I doubled with Fred and Wilma Flintstone before we were all married), it was important to me to just be a gentleman and try to have some fun.

You would probably have been bored to death...

XOBear 06-11-2002 06:12 PM

Hey AmyCat... It sounds like the reason they keep calling is because you call them back. If you hadnt called the LA guy back he probably would have figured you didnt like him anymore.

But I can relate, I feel like I am never going to find a normal guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

amycat412 06-11-2002 06:17 PM

Delt Alum,
LOL you may have been right about that in my 20s, right now though, I'd do backflips for a gentleman. :)

XOBear,
lol I know, but I was curious as to what the Pedophile wanted. At least now I know. :) THAT situation amuses me. The other one no longer does.

The men situation in New York is just as bad. I've recently discovered that I'm a freak magnet. My ex-boyfriend called my sister (biological) and asked her out two weeks ago. He left a message saying if he can't have one sister, he would be glad to have the other. BASTARD! He hasn't called me, but he sent an e-mail yesterday with one word, "Why?" WTF? I'm going to ignore it and block him.

lifesaver 06-12-2002 02:10 PM

Hey amy, dont dispair. Too bad you werent in Texas.. Iknow of about 4 or 5 alumni brothers of mine who are eligible guys who would treat you like the princess that you truely are. ;)

Keep the faith. If you cant keep that, at least keep the stories coming. hahah lol.

amycat412 06-12-2002 02:31 PM

awwww. :) thanks life!

DeltAlum 06-12-2002 03:47 PM

Amy,

Karnea, the Delta Tau Delta international conference is at the Boneventure in August.

Come on over and we'll find you some nice Delt alum.

Oooops, that's as opposed to this DeltAlum (without the space and capital A). My wife doesn't like it when I date.

How embarassing.

amycat412 06-12-2002 03:50 PM

lol Deltalum. that was funny.

Hmm Delt convention in Los Angeles?? I'm liking the sound of that!
