This seems to be a minority report, but I think whomever did that may have done Theta and his chapter a huge service. (Has it occurred to anyone that it might have been one of his brothers -- wasn't there another taking part in the thread or not?)
Had Jay gone ahead with his original intention, who knows what the outcome might have been. I've had to be protected against myself on occassion and now I am thankful. As for Jay's tirade against alums (and parents), he may change his mind as time passes. Edit point: Just after I posted the above, I ran into this quote on a broadcasting bulletin board I often read, and thought it was interesting given the above: "They've lived longer, they're more confident about their choices and they don't have to be hip and cool anymore, which I think is a godsend - you make really bad choices when you are trying to be hip." - Jodie Foster on why she's looking forward to turning 40 in November. |
Right or Wrong that someone from GC wrote that paticular Greek Org. did it with a faith that maybe they did not know know they were doing wrong, unless it was a sniper!
I think, WE as Members ot the Greek Community on this site are concerned about not only our Organizations, but for All of our Organizations. We as one stand tall or not at all! |
Thanks Delt!!
I figured that was the case. Besides, if anything is non-union it is generally a bad idea, at least in the entertainment industry. Unions controll everything. |
I agree with Delt...
I have to say that I, too, think that informing Headquarters wasn't a bad idea. Those that argue that you can't punish someone for a crime they haven't yet committed are correct and I hope that the chapter isn't in any trouble because, no, they have not done anything wrong.
With that said, I think that many of us can site examples of times when a chapter should have sought advice from advisors/headquarters/(Inter)National Council, but didn't. (I am not making an assumption of what Theta would or wouldn't have done). I would guess that all of our organizations would much rather give guidance during the planning stages of an event than help pick up the pieces after something goes terribly wrong. All I'm saying is this, if this anonymous report kept a chapter out of trouble and kept the greek image from being further tarnished, then, hey, that's okay with me. |
