Vanity Plate!
It's really cute - royal blue with silver lettering, with the greek letters and "Women in Technical Studies" underneath. It's on the front of my car. Custom made too, from a little kiosk at the mall. :D
(So if anyone sees a gold car with an Alpha Sigma Kappa plate burnin' rubber along I-80 in Jersey, you can bet it's me. ) :) |
Tons of people at UF have their letters on their cars, in one way or another. I have the license plate holder with the letters, the words, and the symbols, and a UF sticker on the back window and a gator head on the plate itself. I was thinking about getting those mirrorred plates with my letters for the front of the car but decided against it b/c I'm a really bad driver and I don't want people to be cursing out "Those damn Pi Phis!" :D

On my car I have the license plate frames on both ends of the car with the letters Phi Mu Alpha on bottom and the Greek Letters on top. Black and Gold Phi Mu Alpha Letters on the rear windshield just above the University window sticker. On my Ninja I have the crest on both sides of the gas tank next to the Kawasaki letters.

Car Decals
I have my letters in Greek, about 1 inch high in gold edged in dark blue, on the lower right front of my windscreen. My Dad has his in the lower left of his rear windscreen. My Granddad has his same as my dad. My Grandmother tells me that my Great Grandmother lived long enough to trade in two cars after Great Granddad died (at 78) and she insisted on having his letters next to hers (Pi Phi) in the lower middle of the rear windscreen. I have an old photo of them standing behind what I think is a 1926 Packard and you can just about make out the letters. Dad tells me that it was fairly unusual to show letters on cars back then and it really started in the late 40's or early 50's. He thinks the letters were there for a special occasion like a homecoming game or Alumni function. Anyway, I think its kind of cool to have had four generations of cars showing the same letters.
