Okay, I'm going to have to be honest up in here. While my Sorors had me OOO-OOPing all up in my house, I was a little disappointed and shocked. I have never seen Sorors step like that. It was a little too Omega Psi Phi for me. I didn't like the manly feel of the steps. Deltas that I have seen step down here in the ATL stepped like women but still tight.

I still voted for them though :p :D ;) !!

Greetings Sorors and friends. Let’s face it the real reason for BET having this so-called Step Competition is just to raise their ratings. I might be old school, but I know a pile of stuff when I smell it. BET has long since abandoned its concern for the black youth in America. I have nothing against Rap; it’s a very creative art form. However, you can’t live on it 24/7, and that’s what being pumped into our kids. I’ve been teaching them for some time now. How much booty call can you take? Don’t answer that question; I really don’t want to know.

Originally, I had planned to go to the taping of the show; I live in NYC, in spite of the so-called boycotting of BET. And I read a piece that was place on the chat that was an April Fool joke about the changes that BET had made in it’s programming. I got to thinking that I really didn’t need to support something that I didn’t agree with.

Again, we’ve been had. I remember seeing the call up for step teams to participate in the show. The ad stated that the show would give our organizations an opportunity to share some of the projects and community service activities that we spearhead or participate in. Alas, this was not the case. I watched spokes people having to rush through their spiel just so their team had time to step. Here we go looking like all our organizations do is step. This is too much for me. I’ve had it with BET. If you want to see real shows, go to Step Correct or buy a video, leave BET alone.
 And that's my22 cents

what up sorors!
i was disappointed in the in the wild display of fraternity steps last night. we can pay homage to the brothers anytime, but this show should have been a showcase of Delta Sigma Theta for the public, not a show on the yard. we were on tv, even if only bet. non-greeks will think that is how all deltas step. they were representin'! i know i'm old school, and probably just old, but come on youngins'!

I thought they did a great job. I was just wondering if people were having a hard time actually voting on the website?

Good Job Ladies....

its weird how styles vary so much from region to region. on the west coast thats how the deltas step (que steps, grits and sometimes even throwing up the hook). i actually caught the show last night - the aka's looked nice, but your sorors put on a better show.

Hello sorors,

I must say that I am a little disappointed that sorors were not feeling that step on BET.

My chapter personally did that step "Its a fine time" back in 98 for a stepshow competition and won!!!! :D

I thought that the sorors who did the show, (who I know personally), did a FABULOUS job. They had lots of enthusiam, enunciated every word, and were very precise in their show.
Compared to the AKA team, there was no doubt in my mind that sorors rocked that show! They had me oo-ooping and throwing up signs in the hair salon :D

We also have to consider that sorors had like only 2 minutes to impress everyone. There clearly wasnt enough time to do other steps that would have been more "lady-like". Whats wrong with sorors getting down and rocking a step that would get everyone hype instantly????

Thats just my 4 cents :)

I havent seen the show yet, someones taping it for me....but did someone say, alphas used staffs, if so, thats the first alpha team, ive EVER, i mean EVER seen using a staff/cane....

also i know you women are ticked with the whole free/hand signal use...i would too...but i bet she doesnt realize how much we value it....

nevertheless, i know the girls from our schools chapter are ticked, and i can see them now,

1. checking priceline/travelocity for the first flight east...
2. getting the vaseline/hairpins/nails fortified
3. getting the ponytail together and in place...

So they can let Sista Free know how much we value our shyt

LOL...

I didn't see Free attempt to throw up the pyramid, but I did hear keep saying the Deltas were make alot of 'noise'. She irked me everytime she said it. She just kept saying, "Ooh, that noise."

Hey Ladies!

I saw the show last night. The ladies who stepped for DST tore it up!!! My best friend (who is a Delta) and I were watching it last night and she couldn't stop doing your call!!!!

Ya'll should have seen her face when she saw Free throw up your handsign. She dang near threw something at my tv. I'm not a Delta, and even I was like, "No....she....DIDN'T!!!!"

She needs to get dropkicked. http://www.plaudersmilies.de/splat.gif

Now she's old enough to know dang well NOT to do that.

I wanna see what mess is she gonna pull tonight. What, is she gonna play like she's an Omega tonight????

Later ya'll,
PP

Please forgive me for a little slow on the uptake since I don't sit around and watch BET all day or even pass my the channel with the quickness which would get me arrested in some states for speeding. I know that this is going to be slow as molasses but I have to make this point. What in the world happened to BET I remember when it was cool with Donnie Simpson, but back to the program at hand. So what happened to this so-called boycott of BET, why didn't it happen and does anyone think it was going to do any good? Now to the show lets forget for one minute that AJ is a complete jackazz and Free .... no words can describe that. (That is what the mute button is for on the remote Push when in doubt of intelligence.)
I have a question for those that want to answer this and it might be a little off the subject but please bear with me. Lets say that you are wearing your letters and someone comes up to you and asks you about your organization and you tell them a little about it. I just want to tell you that you have told more about your organization than what either person introducing the step team had time to do on 106 and Park. You might see a quizzical look on there face like, "I thought that the only thing you do is step." Now that is my problem with the image that the show put forth. Wait! ... 1 minute, lawd know we have heard enough 1 minute jokes to fill a thread from here to doomsday. Ok, now it is time to wrap this comment up ... I am glad that I kept with my boycott compared to other people that spoke about it and not going to this show with my mom, because I would be the guy in the audience screaming WTF!!!

I am not finding a question here per say, but I gather that you want to know whether or not a person learns more about any of the D9 orgs by an informal conversation versus the 30 second speech and step show that BET has shown us this week.

Definitely an informal conversation, but the person approached must always always stress to the interrogant that our organizations are alike in ideals of Sisterhood/Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service but that we all have various ways of impacting the world at large. Each of our orgs serve a purpose but each org needs people who are committed to the ideals established by founders and other major impactors of our orgs and not just bigger and better steppers.

Now my comment about tonight's show:
I swear I am really loving the Ques' high impact and energy show but was there something wrong with contacts or did their clothes look dusty?

1Babygirl2000 05-02-2002 09:28 PM

Ok, I saw the competition this evening. The Omega's outfits did look dusty...matter of fact those were the same outfits I saw them step in a few weeks ago...and the same show. But while my bruhs did a good job, you have to give it to those Unknown Sigmas. *applause*
