Peaches-n-Cream 02-20-2002 03:43 PM

This topic just went from weird to bizzare pretty fast!
I remember someone saying, "If meat is murder, then eggs are abortions."

h2oot 02-20-2002 09:21 PM

Enough is enough!!!!

You're sick, that's what... to in any way try to rationalize or justify what you said. BTW, you aren't that Miami-guy with another nic, are you?

Optimist - are you on crack? No really, I'm serious. The fact that you think abortion should be used as a method of birth control tells me you may be missing a large group of cells that make up your brain.

And for the record, I don't eat omelets. SICK.

Bridget3D 02-20-2002 09:33 PM

Don't you guys just looooove the internet?

Optimist Prime 02-20-2002 11:47 PM

First off I am not Miami!!!!
Second off, if a woman has a right to choose in any situation, she has a right to choose in every situation. I"m sick for having an opinon different for yours? What are you some kind of an opinon nazi? Well, you'll never send me to the death camps! There are way too many people on this planent, the earth cannot support us all. Unless you have a better idea, then you shouldn't judge mine.

You're right. You are entitled to your own opinion, but it was HOW you said it. Your above replies came off as being very insensitive.

Well, this sounds like a cop out but its because of the type. YOu can't hear the inflection, etc. as if i had spoken it, and no other words of mine to put it in context. Its actully something I've thought a lot about.

OP - You seem to be misinterpreting the reason people are offended by your statements. You do have the right to express your opinion - I'm not debating that issue. But if you do express your opinion, keep in mind that I have the right to attack it, if I feel it is based on lack of knowledge, is hateful, or is just plain ignorant. Whether or not women have the right to choose is clear in my book - but do you honestly think that any woman would choose to use ABORTION as a method of regular birth control? LOL. That's the part that I just have to roll my eyes at. You either don't understand the concept of "regular birth control" and/or you don't have a clue about what the practice of abortion entails. That's the bone I have to pick with you.

Then again...Maybe you're being like the select few on this board (who shall remain nameless) who love to create controversy and strife by throwing out ignorant and half-thought out opinions just to get a reaction from the rest of the people on GC. So go ahead and express your opinions, but don't expect me to sit back and not comment when you say something that defies reason, knowledge, and common sense.

Well no, actually...what you SAID sounds like a cop out. If you're so damn worried about people not understanding the "inflection" and "tone" with which you make your statements, then you should probably NOT be posting your opinions on a message board in the first place.

What how he said it? bull, it was what he SAID. Abortion as birth control? That is SICK. I am all for a woman's right to choose, but any woman who does that is not only putting her life at risk but is the ultimate in stupid and other things that I won't even go into.

Abortion as BIRTH CONTROL? Ugh. That is repugnant, any way that you try and say it.

I think you misunderstood what I meant. Yes, what he said was definately inappropiate. But, how he said it made it even worse.

I think you got him pegged. He's prolly looking for attention and stirring the pot is the only way he knows how to get it. I get torn between responding to this offensive bunk and ignoring it with the hope it will go away.

When the full moon begins to wane will Optimist Prime turn back into Billy Optimist?

SAE1955 02-21-2002 01:48 PM

Look what I've started....

Optimist Prime 02-21-2002 01:58 PM

Actully my opinon was very well thought out. I'm still in the process of thinking out. Opinons never just reach a point and then stop.

I know about regular birth controll.
I know what abortion entails.

If all else fails, or the woman simply changes her mind about wanting to have the baby then its the morally higher choice because there are way too many people in the world.

Lovelyivy...you say that women have the right choose, but not for birth controll? why not? I know there are methods, but if a woman wants to use abortion as birth control, then it is her right.

Now..adressing the nature of this discussion. I did not get personal. With anyone. About anything. I won't name, quote or repost those who I feel have maybe stepped out side of the lines in getting personal (please note: i am putting extra effor not to be offesnsive right now in how i word this so if it comes off weird, my bad). I will, however, asert my right to express my opionions, whether they themselves (my opionions, not how I say them) are offensive to others. If I offended any one in HOW I said something, then I'm sorry. If I offended any one in WHAT said, well, for that I cannot apoligise.

LOL werewolf. HHOOOOOWWLLLLL

I don't know if I'll ever change back, but doubtless I will change again. I think i will change my name again in 34 posts.

Billy, this doesn't sound like you at all. Is everything OK? A lot of people seem to be acting out of chatacter. You know those who have followed your posts for months and months notice something has changed. Just hoping all is well with you.
