I can see it now....hundreds of PNMs showing up in one of the 9 Target Lilly dresses. Awkward!

IndianaSigKap 04-19-2015 02:55 PM

And it's already showing up on e-bay...

The line at the Beverly Center Target at 7:45am this morning. Only 8 ppl in front of me!
Double posting for effect -- the next pic is my "haul"!

ChioLu 04-19-2015 03:16 PM

37 items total.
Taken care of Mother's Day, several birthdays, some Christmas gifts, next advisors meeting & a little something for my Panhellenic advissee!

Bonus - I saw Justin Beiber at Target too. Okay, that might not be a bonus ...

ChioLu, I'm so jealous of your haul! I thought the line was cute, but not "wake up early enough to fight my way through the crowd at 8 AM" cute, and now it's completely gone in my local store and online. Not willing to pay crazy resale prices either, since at that point I might as well just buy actual Lilly.

Wait. So, THIS is what the hype was all about? One display of home goods and ONE measly half rack of clothing?

Seriously?

I went to two Target stores. The first had the display of home goods and NO Lilly clothes or accessories whatsoever. I went to the next closet Target and found the displays in the photo above. The second Target also had a handful of children's rompers in that green print.

What's the point in advertising in my market (San Diego) if you're not planning to stock products? Oddly enough, we have a Lilly store at the high-end mall a whopping 1-mile away. They obviously thought there was enough of a market for Lilly to put a store in San Diego. Perhaps they didn't want to stock the products at these two Target stores for fear that the Target line might compete with their regular line?

Lame.

I totally agree with Clemsongirl, they Target Lilly is listing for $89.00 and the "real" Lilly is starting at the same price.

ChioLu 04-19-2015 04:56 PM

The cotton sheath dresses were very stiff cotton & a little scratchy, so I only got one 100% cotton item and it was a request. 80% of what I got is for gifts and nothing is going to be on eBay. The store I went to had very few home items and not a lot of beauty items. Mostly clothes, and Justin Bieber even checked those out.

I've said this many times today. The difference between Real Lilly and Faux Lilly (Target) is like the difference between Coach from Coach stores and Coach from Outlet stores. The outlet stores are a completely different line made with inferior materials.

No, nada, never, nunca.

Ditto! Some of the home stuff looks cute, and is stuff that the Real Lilly line doesn't have. That would be my only exception.

I had really forgotten about it until this morning, when we were wondering why there was a Black Friday-like line in front of Target.

amanda6035 04-19-2015 08:45 PM

The only products that were left when I got there at 11am (I forgot about it) was the nail polish.

I didn't know outlet Coach was substandard Coach.

Anyhoo, I got a cute toiletry/makeup bag at the second Target I went to. I didn't see any home goods or a display for them at either one. There were only a few pieces of clothing left at both.

I didn't even bother with the Lilly for Target promo. It reminds me of the Target Missoni line a few years ago, all of the hype for that. Most of my Missoni purchases were online since the store had such a small number of items. I think I spent close to $500 on all of my purchases when all was said and done. I ended up returning 80% of the merchandise. The most of the sweaters and dresses I returned, the quality wasn't there, you could just tell it was cheaply made. And for those prices I could buy a similar style with better quality for around what I had paid. I ended up only keeping a sweater set, a spring weight jacket, and a duvet set. After spending countless hours and frustration online trying to order, and then having to deal with then returning the items, I figued best to skip this promo.

Benzgirl, Coach is not cited in the article you linked to on buzzfeed. I have bought at the Coach outlet in Santa Fe and in Las Vegas; and have returned items to the Coach store here in Tucson, no questions asked, full refund. I'll do some research and update re: Coach.

Perhaps the facts in the article may be true for other retailers.
