Oh, I love opinionated women. It makes for an interesting conversation.

BUT, how can you consider yourself opinionated by making a statement to someone about "pulling something out of their azz."

It hasn't been the first time I've seen poopie come out of your mouth, rather out through your fingertips.

Now, I must give the disclaimer that I am a rather conservative woman. But I agree in part with damasa. OTW, opinionated women state their views with dignity and respect for others. These are the othe only opinionated women that will have the power to "make the world go round." It is tact and charisma that gets people where they are professionally and socially. This is an open board and an electronic one at that, so nothing should be taken too seriously. But it is imperative that people learn proper social skills before they graduate college and move into the social hiearchy we call Corporate America (for those of us who choose to join it). OTW, please consider if someone like carnation or amycat412 started this thread. Would you treat them with the same lack of regard? I just needed to point that out.

*Now everyone breath*

On the original topic.... For the first time in my life I met a male cheerleader this year. He is one of the most wanted fraternity men on campus. He was a stuntman in high school and was quite the catch. Plus, he treats women with respect and is an awesome human being. I'm glad someone dispelled the misconception for me!;) I agree with Tom's comments!

more choir singers who are male are gay than then general pop. Thought I'd throw that out there. Also, gay men typically spend more money on cds.

if women are fighting for the right to do anything, than why cant men? they should be able to do anything without having their sexuality questioned.

I'm not saying I think male cheerleaders are necessarily gay or that they necessarily like, say, oranges. :)
Cheerleading is seen as a traditionally female pursuit though? And crossover of guys into traditionally female things is a whole lot less socially/societally acceptable than crossover of women doing "male" things?
Another question is how do female cheerleaders view males who want to cheer with them? With suspicion? With open arms? With indifference?

eta: I just remembered a cheerleading group was going to try to get recognised at my school, by the student union, recently.
I didn't notice if they had any male names on their petition list (you need 15 members to apply to become an official group). I am wondering how they would view them.

I am going to have to answer this. Female cheerleaders....as being a past one....do not have problems with male cheerleaders. Yes some can be perverts and in it for the wrong reasons, but for the most part they are there to be part of the experience. I guess if you have never been a cheerleader you do not totally understand the fun you have and the bonds you make. I always saw cheerleading as sort of another social group...a fraternity/sorority in its own. Yes it WAS seen as a female pursuit, but there have been male cheerleaders for so many years now that people need to drop the stereotype. Just my .02. :)

You're welcome...although I am not sure if you were being facetious....
