Aww, thanks! I never imagined these things would take off so much.

Clemsongirl, please add a "future" pushpin for Theta at Colorado State. These maps are awesome!

Love these maps, I definitely didn't realize how much some groups were expanding.

Can't wait to see the rest.

I know some biggity wigs. They like to see this stuff displayed graphically. It is a nice show of success. ;)

Oh, there are more than their share of "biggity wigs" lurking here who I'm sure have seen these. The question will be if they consult Clemsongirl about using her maps, or more likely make their own version to be a bit more precise and updatable on the fly. As an example, Alpha Xi Delta FHQ can't rely on sending Clemsongirl a PM every time we get ready for a new chapter announcement, right? Hopefully due credit will be given to a certain freshman ADPi who is making an early splash in the Greek world.

But I am definitely ready to run a spreadsheet that shows growth by state. The northeast is BLOWING UP. I'd love to have a discussion about why that is, if the northern schools are trying to take on a more southern feel, if there is a trend toward housing (or the reverse), are these new chapters stable and growing, etc. I think there is a lot of GC fodder there.

And here are the last (but most certainly not least) three maps!

So impressive, clemsongirl AND with time to spare for dinner and the premiere of Downton Abbey! Two small favors for Phi Mu, please. I think the Huntingdon pushpin belongs in Alabama, and there should be pin for this year at Oklahoma City. Was the Arizona State mystery ever solved?

As a Geographer, I like your maps Clemsongirl. Simple and to the point, easy for the user to understand. Thanks!

Done! And I figured that based on the established expansion timeline at Arizona State the Wikipedia list was wrong about Phi Mu expansion there. It might have been Arkansas State instead but without confirmation I just decided not to put anything.

pinksequins 01-05-2014 08:54 PM

I would agree, and the Arizona-based GCers did not have it in their timelines either. Phi Mu still has expanded at quite the pace! A lot of expansion opportunoities still remain on LaneSig's thread, so you'll be adding more pins before you know it!

AOII Angel 01-05-2014 09:15 PM

Now someone needs to count up all those pins and see how many total chapters have been added to the system with this glut of expansions.

ETA: I counted 400 even.

Kappa Delta must have been thinking about this same idea - there's a map of our chapter growth on pages 44 and 45 of the latest edition of our magazine:
