I don't understand why a pin that was in such bad shape... bent, missing jewels, etc. would have been passed on without being repaired, but I can't honestly say that I would object to having another sister's pin, even knowing where they come from. It isn't like someone would have to exhume her for me to have the pin. And, actually, my pin was stolen at one point in time. I did get it back, but if it had not been returned to me, I would definitely have jumped at the chance to replace it, and I would have been just as proud to wear the replacement.

One of my sisters bought her pin at a pawn shop. It was in great shape and cost less than from the jewelers. I always wondered who pawned it. It seemed a little sad. :(
