Wishing Tallulah the best!!

carnation 09-21-2012 01:09 PM

oh! I love the Beamer music and I just realized with a shock that the guy in the video is Keola Beamer. He and Kapolo were these young guys who sang all over the islands when I lived there. If he's old, I must be--no, I won't say it!

Thank you, Mevara!

The name Hazel, brings this to mind: http://www.nbc.com/30-rock/video/haz...n-reel/1384226

We were hoping that she would get 4 invitations, though the RGs said that most girls wouldn't get 4. She has so many that she liked that she wanted another chance to see them. Aaaannnd--she got 4! So now I'll assign the names to them that I chose. She will attend:

HULA SKIRT:Tallulah loves their philanthropy and wants to be involved no matter where she pledges. She has 2 camp friends who are in other chapters of this group and she says that this is a group of very sweet girls.

PLUMERIA LEI:a legacy group! Turns out she was a counselor with one of the members last year. These girls are very involved on campus like Tallulah wants to be.

SCARLET ULI-ULIS:another legacy group! She met some of these girls on campus this week in various places. Her RA is one. Also a very involved group.

HAWAII ALOHA:she has known an active from this group for almost her whole life, plus many girls from Hawaii Aloha are in her major. She says they have such a tight sisterhood!

Parties are tomorrow afternoon, I think!

2 legacies to return to!! Go Tallulah!

I'm rooting for Hawaii Aloha

"E ha'i mai kou mau kini lani e
Kou mau kupa aloha, e Hawai'i
Na mea 'olino kamaha'o no luna mai
E Hawai'i aloha e"

Just to clear up my confusion, are their only 4 chapters at the school?

Carnation, how many different sororities is she a legacy to? (Just curious, I love hearing about families that have a large and diverse greek "life". I'm the only greek in my family).

carnation 09-21-2012 06:18 PM

She's a legacy to 5 groups. Her school has more than 4 and they've already gone through a few rounds of parties but we decided to start her thread when she was down to theme parties.

Okay that makes sense.

At this point, the legacy groups have one last chance to cut her because if they take her to prefs, she should get a bid. She doesn't know this (big family discussion on Facebook: should we tell her? Why or why not?) And anyway, she might want to pledge one of the other two; she certainly likes them a lot!

So she knows nothing. We didn't tell daughter #6 about it during recruitment either.

I know you have a large family. I mean it's enough for a nation! How many children do you have?

carnation 09-21-2012 09:19 PM

13! 9 girls, 4 boys.

Thanks for sharing your daughter's story, Carnation! So fun. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

(I know a 2 month old baby named Tallulah!)

Good luck to the Carnation Nation!

More Hawaiian music for our listening pleasure! I wanted y'all to see this one because the red and yellow hula implements that the dancers have are uli-ulis, like we've used for one of Tallulah's groups. Almost all I've seen are red with yellow centers but when I was at UH, each cheerleader had one a different color of the rainbow since the team was the Rainbow Warriors.
