As for Carnation's comment about having to call a legacy's Mom if she is cut. It really doesn't matter how many girls are in the pledge class- the call just needs to be short and sweet. "I;m sorry to inform you that your daughter was released from Alpha Alpha Alpha. The chapter members did not feel that she was a good fit and that she would be happier elsewhere. Thank you and we wish your daughter luck with the rest of her recruitment.". No need to mention that the chapter liked 150 girls over their snowflake.

I think we'd be good friends;)

Totally agree. The less said the better. All you do is tell the mother something that might hurt her feelings. This is done sooo badly so many times because people get diarrhea of the mouth and feel the need to explain. Are you really going to be able to "explain" to a sister why her daughter/sister/grand daughter just isn't cut out to be an XYZ? Yeah, No. Just keep it short and simple. I've even seen, "She didn't have the grades." turn into a war when the alum didn't think it through that keeping the legacy past the first party was leading the girl on. Shut up and get off the phone.

Yup. I had to make some of these calls last year. I actually wrote down what I wanted to say before I even made the call (which is pretty much what I said above). I didn't have any Moms or sisters ask too many questions, but if they do, then it just becomes an "I'm sorry, I can't discuss membership selection with you". www.nframe

It is not as if arguing with me is going to make the chapter change it's mind.
