Well, I got a first! Somebody wanted me to do a rec for TWO sororities -- mine and a different one! They thought any alum could make recommendations for any sorority. Needless to say, we had to talk.

My Panhellenic Alum FB group is growing but needs to grow more. Thanks again to you Greek Chat members who have volunteered to do recs. We need, really need, right now Chi-O, AOII and DG...if anyone''s interested and willing, please PM and I will send you the FB link so you can join and leave contact info. (I have several posts in this thread that explain what it is. Scroll back a page or so.) Thank you!

bump.

I have a question, could someone please PM me the link to the FB group? I'd like to obtain recs for the several (read:all) Chapters on my Campus, but don't know who to ask. Our Rush is some weeks away.

Thanks!

You don't know if oyu live in that FB page's home town. You need to check with people you know and people who know you - not a bunch of strangers online. Have you read any of the recommendation threads here???? What you did is a huge pet peeve around here!

I had no idea. I'm sorry. :o

I have checked with the ladies that I know. Other than my in-laws, who say that they don't write recs for ANYONE, not even their own blood relatives, I don't know anyone other than then who is a member of a GLO. Believe me, I've asked around enough to make one's head spin.

It's funny. I know quite a few people who would be pleased to write me a rec letter for almost any other reason. However, I don't think that the recs that they'd offer to write would be applicable to a GLO. Not meant in a snarky way, but in a contemplative and surprised way.

The rec has to be from a member of that particular GLO. Doesn't have to be someone who went to that school but a member of that group. Have you asked teachers, coaches, parents of your friends, friends who are in GLOs who can tell you who in your town does them for that group, coaches, employers, parents employers and co-workers, Sunday School teachers, , etc, etc, etc?

The bolded caught my eye, suggesting that you might be married? I already know you are older than the typical PNM, from a thread you started.

If you go to Google and type in "recruitment recommendations + Greek Chat" you may come up with a plethora of threads related to your request. I hope you find this suggestion helpful.

If you're going to a school where you need recs, your chances at a bid are probably uber small.

misscherrypie 07-17-2012 10:42 AM

No, not married. The in-laws I'm referring to are cousins who married into my family.

I'll do the Google thing. Thanks ladies.

misscherrypie 07-17-2012 10:44 AM

No, not needed at my school. If you have them, great. If you don't it's not an issue.

If your family members won't write you recs, there is probably something wrong with you.

misscherrypie 07-17-2012 10:52 AM

They don't write recs for anyone. Not even their own sisters or anyone else. They said that its nothing against me personally.

:off to the Google:
