I would imagine that you could find a shirtdress style of white dress, so you would not have to worry about a white tank top. You might also get away with wearing a white skirt and white blouse, if your chest makes it hard for you to find dresses that fit properly.

Ultimately, it would be better to wear the white tank top to cover your cleavage than to "let it all hang out", but it would be best to check with the chapter's ritual officer.

Any opinions on either of these dresses?

Sarajean, i am new to the forum and I am not a Greek woman but my daughter will be a PMN. Both of the dresses that you linked seem to not fall under the category of appropriate for Bid Day. I believe that the ladies here stipulated, not too "body conscious" and not to short. the first is very body conscious and the second really looks WAY to short. I would keep looking if I were you

You know what? I don't think anyone is thinking about being stylish at rituals. A lot of people have just bought any old white dress they could find because really, what you're thinking about is the ritual. I've never heard anyone say that they cared what others' white dresses looked like; as a matter of fact, there's a white dress somewhere around here that has been worn to the initiations of about 15 different people.

This. A lot of my sisters search for cute white dresses because they want something versatile that they can wear in more than just sorority ceremonies for their money, but no one's ever cared about how stylish someone looked during the actual ceremonies!

Thanks. The first one is my homecoming dress from two years ago (just wondering if I could maybe reuse it).

The second I just found while browsing and thought it was kinda cute.

What is the white dress for? Ritual, presents, or bid day?

FWIW, neither of those dresses would be appropriate for ritual with some organizations.

Thanks for your input. The first one is my homecoming dress from 2 years ago and I was just wondering if it was appropriate enough to reuse. Guess I'll have to keep looking!

Just my two cents worth - but it is worth the effort to find a cute white dress if you are going to a campus that most people have them for bid day or initiation because there will be a lot of photos. There won't be photos at the ritual, but there will be at the celebration afterwards.

Also, there are a couple of chapters on the campus that I advise at that wear all black for prefs and a couple that wear all white for prefs so it would be worth it to have something that you could wear again.

my daughter has this dress from ring ceremony at school. it's shorter on the model and hits my daughter just at knees. would this be okay? she is attending an SEC school if that matters.

Absolutely. As an adviser, i don't even think about how stylish a sister's whites are, just that everything is covered, it's the proper (and all) white, etc.

BTW, this may have already been mentioned, but if you're white-shopping this summer, please also consider a slip to go under it. Or at least make sure it's lined such that it's not terribly see-through. It's hard to avoid with white.

I'd say even if it's lined, get a slip.
