These unfortunately are just the standards I have to live with.

This is ridiculous. How old are you, anyway?

Personally, I think you're just embarrassing yourself, your sorority and whatever school you attend.

As for "standards you have to live with," umm, what? That's ridiculous, too. I can't imagine a school where people think a size six is fat. Like, really? How tiny is this school (# of people-wise) that this opinion is so pervasive? What happens to a girl who's a 6? Is she suddenly "the fat girl" and that's it?

This is ridiculous. I'm not saying southernbelle14 is a troll, but still, we're all feeding her wayyyyy too much. Especially if she goes to a school where a size 6 is "fat." ;)

I'm so under-educated on recs, STILL.

I had recs but didn't need them. I should be writing more of them, but I just don't know that many HS seniors who are remotely interested in Greek Life.

My hometown Panhellenic is really on-point, considering it's a small town and it consists primarily of retired women. They have regular events throughout the year, have a Greek Life panel for HS seniors and their mothers, and have a cocktail party over Christmas Break for collegiates.

I wish my hometown Panhellenic had more interest in helping with recs! Given the competitiveness of USC rush (can't really speak to UCLA rush, but I doubt it's significantly less competitive), it would be nice to have our Panhellenic available to help.

I was so legitimately puzzled at being considered rude here.

Like, I come home from almost four hours of a TA lecturing about religious issues in the US v. his home country (Turkey) in an accent that requires subtitles (and I am NEVER one to comaplain about accents because I can still understand most people) in a class about TEACHING READING to a post about how I my "tone" repeatedly crushes PNM's self-esteem?

WTF homies? If I'm the resident self-esteem crusher, you should probs take your ball elsewhere.

No, dude, OP is way over-sensitive, or mis-read your post or something. You were very helpful.

It is about time KSUViolet got called at as the evil timultuous GC meanie that she is.

It just sounds like the OP got butthurt because you exposed her at her little trick. Of course her special snowflake was going to be on the first bid list--she visited the house!!!:mad::mad:

DubaiSis 11-01-2011 03:22 PM

I think the OP misread your statement as an accusation and not a warning in general. I'm assuming she has since figured that out. I was a little perplexed at the response to your (what I thought was) helpful post. Maybe we should have a rule that lurkers need to read a set number of threads all the way through before being allowed to post. There would be a lot less hurt feelings and misunderstandings on here!

It is really difficult to post on Greekchat with all of the mean moderators. I find it hard to just type the most civil exchanges. :(

Another thing (not saying this is what you think, but more as a general point):

Don't think that your visit = the members are going to "look out" for my kid during fall recruitment and give her high priority.

I found this post informative because I would thought exactly what you posted. Even tho I don't have any kids I would have thought that making a visit would give the legacy a leg up.

KSUViolet06 11-01-2011 04:18 PM

^^^You know the awkward moment where you get a snarky response from someone and have to double check and see if you were being rude? I had that. lol.

And re: the point of this thread, there MAY be schools that aren't particularly as legacy-heavy where a visit might really stand out. (But even then, collegians are really good bullshit detectors. If you are visiting for that sole purpose, they can tell.)

But at Bama/Ole Miss, not so much. There are a lot more legacies and they just can't give them all that sort of "stand out" treatment, even if they really DO like the girl/mom and her intentions of visiting are genuinely a "look where I used to live" thing.

When I read it I also had to reread all the previous posts thinking I missed something. :p

Tritto! I had no clue where that came from-I saw nothing wrong with her posts, so I didn't get it.

You know, I was literally thinking about this today. I need to find out if there is a real word for the person after "ditto" to use.
