I had 2 yorkies as a kid and they were the best. A little high strung but they're great family dogs.

Oh, I have to DEFINITELY agree about the Corvette! Those classic ones are the best, just the sexiest cars on the road. The engines just GROWL - they sound like they mean business!

However, I would disagree on the year - 2 years later in 1963 is the beginning of the Stingray models. The coupe of that year is the ONLY one with the famous "split window" design.

When I'm a bazillionaire, I want to drive a 1963 Corvette Stingray coupe. Sometimes. I live in Florida and most of those classic cars have no AC. :p

My Dad has a '63 convertible that he's had forever - he bought it years ago when he first started working and just keeps tinkering with it to keep it running. It needs a new paint job (starting to "craze" - get tiny cracks in it) and a new accelerator pump (if you haven't driven it in a long while, you have to unscrew the lid on the carbouretor and pour a little gas in), but darn it if it's not still a sweet little car. Not that Dad's ever let me drive it. Sigh...:(

Oh well, I'll just have to work hard and buy my own! Ha! :D

I second that! Carnation, you've been like an online mommy to me and I know many of the GCers feel the same way. Thank you so much for being kind and caring to us.

I hope Santa brings you another daugher this year! Nothing beats a mommy's love.

Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Love,
Sandy

THe reason I had to go with the '61 is that's the one my dad has. He's a huge classic car fan, and at one point had three Corvettes that he had bought cheap and fixed up, all with original parts. I think two of them were 1961s (one black and one red), and the other was a '63 (that one was red). When he got married to my mom, he sold two of them off to pay for their first house, but he kept the third one for nostalgia sake.

I like the '63s, they have some bad ass lines!! A Split window would be nice:cool:

ErikaXO 12-03-2001 08:48 PM

We have a '71 Stingray t-top, and it is a really cool car. I was really hesitant at the idea of buying a "classic" car, but I actually like this one. It sure moves!!!! The only thing I don't like is how loud it is, but I guess that goes with the territory.

Beef 12-03-2001 08:56 PM

Oh yeah,
I also want an A4 based 331 stroker motor for my Mustang. Just the short block would be acceptable.

aggieAXO 12-03-2001 09:41 PM

Beef, what kind of stang do you have I have a 95 convertible, slow type, 3.0 I think, not GT

Beef 12-03-2001 10:41 PM

You mean a 3.8??

Ive got a '86 LX I am, more or less, completly re-building. Actaully, I am supposed to be getting it back around Chirstmas! The paint job wasnt done before I moved back to MN from Detroit so my brother will be bringing it back for me. If that was the only thing I got for Christmas, I would be more than happy!! Ive been building an engine and collecting parts for the last few months. So I have all these pretty new parts all over and nothing to put them on:( :(

What color is yours?? I like that body style. I was going to get a 94-95 GT but got a sweet deal on the 86.

aggieAXO 12-03-2001 11:52 PM

It is silver with a black top and red interior. No spoiler which I really wanted but hey could not argue as mom and dad paid for most of it (my graduation gift from many many years of college). We bought it used-it was a rent car for 1 year. Yes, I guess it is a 3.8, it is about as fast as a Pinto. I am going to redo the interior next year and re-paint. Good luck with your car and rebuilding it. I saw a convertible LX (probably late 80's early 90's model) the other day and it was soooooo nice-they must take very good care of it or just had it re-painted/new interior as it looked like they just drove it off the car lot that day. I need to get a roll bar for mine.
