oh, ok, cause as of last spring, when we were going over the budget, Panhellenic was saying they were expecting even higher numbers this year. We got a huuuuuuuuge surplus last year from everyone who went through recruitment, and they were predicting another sizable surplus this year, though obviously not budgeting for it. It's very possible that their expectations have changed over the summer seeing the numbers of women who have signed up come in, though.

This is incredibly inaccurate, but all of the actives in houses going through formal recruitment should have their Facebooks turned off by now, and 1244 are listed as attending formal recruitment on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=130307317056712 . Granted, some of the attendees are girls who haven't deactivated their Facebooks yet or men or people who just click "attend" to every Facebook event invitation they receive.

I just checked the recruitment budget for this year, and if you divide the recruitment fees for this year by the total expected registration fees, it comes out to about 750-900 women, depending on how many people register before Aug 1 for $15 less. That's how many they budgeted for back in the spring, but as I understood it, they were expecting more to register.

Also, the numbers you gave could make it seem like almost 2/3 of the female freshman population went through formal, but there are also spring admits, sophomores, and some juniors who made up those 936. Just wanted to make that super clear. :)

kaeb,
We are both Trojans here. I realize the number last year included sophomores, spring admits and some juniors. For SC it was still a record number of pnms.

The last number I was given was 566. That is why I did not see the eventual number making 900. On the board where I volunteer costs appear to be a challenge for many potential Greeks.

I know you know, but when I read it, I thought to myself, wow! I didn't know 2/3 of the freshmen girls went through formal! And then I realized that there are others. So it's just to clarify for myself as much as anyone else. :)

I'm surprised it's that low! That's obviously much lower than they were expecting back in the spring. Huh.

I also don't know why they decided to raise recruitment fees for the PNMs.

Is 566 the current number or the projected final number? I wouldn't be surprised if the current number spikes this week as freshmen start moving in and realizing that many of their new friends will be going through recruitment. That seemed to happen with a fair number of girls I met last year.

kaeb,
A member of Panhellenic gave me that number a few days ago. It is not the final number.

Check your inbox. Thanks.

Panhellenic at Univ. of Southern Cal said again last night that they're expecting 900, and over 700 have registered so far.

I heard there are about 900 so far signed up for Ole Miss. Registration closes soon. So, they might get to 1000! To my knowledge that would be the biggest number ever!

LSU has 1056 registered, which is a little higher than last year.

Looks like about 850 are going through at Washington State.

OleMissGlitter 08-26-2011 11:18 AM

Just heard there are about 1200 going through at Ole Miss.

I just heard from our membership recruitment director that our estimated number of PNMs at Penn State is likely to be in the 900 range. Last year it was 800 and about 700 actually started the process. Still, it's an increase and CPH is potentially going to be adding more parties per day (at the request of the NPC). We'll see how this goes, but I am so excited for recruitment to start. Second time through FTW.

At close of registration on August 14, 2011, there were over 1500 registered PNM's for Florida State University. Tomorrow is Bid Day and I'm so excited for all of the chapters at FSU!! The following info is from FSU's Panhellenic Recruitment page: For the first time this year, Panhellenic has implemented a new recruitment tool designed to make the process more friendly for upperclassmen students (sophomores, juniors, and seniors) and transfer students. An upperclassmen quota will be used to specifically place upperclassmen students in chapters separately from freshmen. This process will not guarantee membership to upperclassmen, but it seeks to make the process more fair and equitable for all potential new members. If you are an upperclassman or transfer student who is considering sorority membership, this is great news!...Good Luck To All!!!

Quota at Arkansas ended up at 130.

HOLY SHIT!!! That is the size of entire chapters at most schools!

Theoretically, if you had that quota every year for 4 years, you would have a chapter size of 520, assuming retention is at 100%.

Anyone know what the retention percentage is at Arkansas?
