I know someone who had two children and another on the way when he impregnated a fourth (!!!!) woman. She came from a much more traditional family than the first two women, so he married her in more or less a shotgun wedding. He and his wife go on to have three children. Of course, he slips up and has a child with another woman. The wife is extremely forgiving and accepts the child--allows her to come to family events, etc. He does it again. She forgives him--again. Wouldn't you know it, that woman gets pregnant again. It's at that moment that she decides to jump ship. He's now married to Wife #2 and, from what I hear, he's still messing around but is a little more discreet about it (ie, he learned how condoms worked) or the women are smarter (birth control) or don't think that getting pregnant could trap him.

I still don't understand how Wife #1 kept up with a known infidel who she KNEW was dipping before they even got married. She was known for being annoying and kind of trifling, but this just makes it even sadder. Did she have crappy self-esteem?

I think there are a few things going on there. Crappy self-esteem is one thing but not the only thing.

What else do you think? Desperation, clearly, but I think that's wrapped up into low self-esteem. Wife #1 was not very cute, either--and was traumatized that BabyMamas #1 and #2 were both lookers. Again, bad self-image.

Let me get this straight, guy has 9 kids by 5 or 6 women? Does he support them all? Do all the kids live with their mothers? Does he have visitation?

Not that he should or shouldn't have any of that. This is fascinating.

9 children. 6 women, two of whom he married.

The kids are, for the most part, in their 20s and 30s now...maybe the oldest two are in their 40s. They all grew up with their mothers--with the exception of the oldest two, all of his kids saw him on a somewhat regular basis. The youngest two, with Wife #2, are teenagers, but child support and visitation would be moot since they live with him. There's a pretty decent age spread, so he was never supporting all 9 at once.

A lot of couples will stay together "for the children." Like I said before, children aren't stupid. There are plenty of children who wish their parents would do everyone a favor and end the relationship.

I'm not going to assume someone did/didn't do something if I don't know that for sure. I already said that condom failure is uncommon but it's a possibility till it's not. If you read that they were unprotected, then okay.

And hearing that something bad happened/was done after leaves one feeling a certain way and disappointed is just the word that fits. I don't have to know him to be a little disenchanted with the fact that that someone I admired (as an actor) turned out to be a manwhore (which I didn't know before this week). It's a bit like finding out Santa is a perv who just likes climbing into chimneys and snatching my people up.

I guess when all is said and done, the headlines should read:
"Politician cheats on wife".

In the grand scheme of things, the politician cheating-situation has happened a bazillion times before and it will continue to happen in the future. The love child living in the same environment for 10 years or whatever puts an "interesting spin" to the story, but in the grand scheme of things, this story is really nothing that new. And of course, the fact that it's "ARNOLD".
