Not that i'm being at all anti-usa/pro-terrorists, but really, i just want to see the proof.

I am confident that photos exist, but it is my understanding that showing them is a violation of the Geneva Convention.

According to my husband who does work with DNA, they would have been able to do this within a matter of hours. The problem with DNA testing for forensic labs is the backlog of cases. I'm quite sure that no case would supercede testing OBl's DNA.

Either way, I'm also a little squicked out by people celebrating his death.

As you should be. The level of joyful celebration throughout the country misses the bigger picture and is, quite frankly, a little embarrassing.

I frankly have to agree with both of you. It makes me think of crowds in the middle East doing the same that make us cringe. Apparently we are unable to see the parallels.

Sorry, but I disagree completely.

This is a definite milestone in our war on terror. This rivals the fall of the Axis powers in WW II in importance to the American psyche. Is the "war on terror" over? No. But we have taken a huge step and a message has been sent. You can run and you can hide but not forever.

A mass murderer is dead, celebrations are in order?

IrishLake 05-02-2011 09:47 AM

I can see the parallels of us celebrating OBLs death, as well as what we saw 10 years ago (celebrations over 9/11) just fine. I'm cool with it. What they committed was terrorism. What Seal Team 6 committed was Justice.

So you honestly believe that we are safer today than we were a week ago?

I know this wasn't directed at me, but we were most definitely safer a week ago than we are today.

I heard that they the President was also contacting George W. Bush.

I completely missed this last night -- watched the DVR of "The Amazing Race" and then turned the TV off.

As for the President getting credit, that's part of the gig of being Commander-in-Chief, especially on something like this, where he certainly was involved. You get to take credit when it goes right, you have to take blame when it goes wrong.

Interestinggggggggg. The news at dawn said that Bin Laden's body was being handled according to Islamic tradition. Sending to sea is supposedly not common for Muslim tradition.

I won't be cynical or Debbie Downer...I understand not wanting a burial cite to become a shrine for terrorists...but....

I can't find an article on the mainstream news sites:

George W. Bush already released his official statement soon after the news story broke.

How dare you miss this last night because of The Amazing Race! ;)
