I am ashamed, however, of sisters who refuse to accept sisters for such discriminatory reasons.

Kudos.

im African american and plan on rushing at my transfer school . Honestly for someone to judge another by the color of there skin in a sorority surprises me a little just based on the fact that If a African American young women chooses to Rush and not show interest in NPC and feel comfortable with Panhellenic Coun. why should you feel a certain way about it, obviously she has done her research or talked to a friend about it. "It's only awkward if you make it awkward" If your house goes into the process with an open mind just as those black or white do then you'll find that you guys are more alike than you think.

As long as you remember that you are giving advice as an outsider to the entire process.

(It took a lot for me to overlook the grammar, spelling, and syntax errors in your post, which is our first impression of you on GC.)

You did better than I did. I couldn't get past the first sentence or two. :(

Thanks for the reply. I really hope that things work out. I like to think that my sisters will do what's right when the time comes, but I can't know for sure. This is my first time going through recruitment, so people won't really listen to me. I will quit the chapter if we love a girl but cut her only because of her race. I love my sisters, but I can't be a part of something that goes against everything I stand for.

you can quit, and everything might stay the same. you could stay and be the change from within. hopefully, it won't come to having to make that decision.

USM2012, I'm a little surprised. NPC groups at your school have pledged black women in the past.

Am I the only one growing tired of college educated people that can't write? If I had my way (says the former English teacher:D), one would not graduate with a degree unless basic writing skills were proven.

I want to scream every time I see a multitude of errors in a single post. Mistakes here and there are one thing; inability to write coherently and within the rules of the American English language makes me crazy.

Yes!!!
Then people come back with: "It's just an internet forum; what difference does it make?"
When people can't figure out what you said, or ignore it because they can't easily figure it out....it DOES make a difference (says the degreed-in-English former newspaper copy editor)!

Plus, when posters are asking for recruitment advice and they sound stupid because their grammar and spelling is so bad (that's how we HEAR them, after all), what I want to say is "you need to get an education first and FORGET your social life until you can become fluent in your mother tongue."

Or in the eloquent words of other members here: "Pledge the library."

I'm LOVING this and fully intend to repeat it in the future. They have no grade requirement at all, and offers a WORLD of opportunity.
