Watch out with the reading glasses comments.

I think the point is that no one believes this really is a teenager.

I love you all.

Except the OP. The rest of you, yeah you, I love you all.

And, dear writer, keep on telling your story and let all of the old ladies who don't remember what it was like to be a teenager criticize you. Incidentally, referring to people looking their best, I can remember my mom, in her 80s, fussing because I wore flats to a funeral - said I was not properly honoring the person who had died. For what it was worth, I wore the flats so that I could keep her from falling as she tottered about on her 2 1/2 inch heels.

Are you Dear Abby or something?

I think I was assuming she was one of the CC moms who've been over here this fall.

But "dear writer?" Seriously?

Well I'm definately not old as well I'm guessing I may be a year older than the poster (if she truly is a teenager). And well there is definately a way to be tactful while discussing your attitude toward a particular person. A lot of it does have to do with the tone in which you say, which is lost when typing, texting, or any sort of conversation that is not done face to face; meaning you have to be even more discerning on what you are saying. Trust me I have heard girls completely express their dislike for someone with a grin on their face while talking about how great of a person they are. It can and is often, and as two faced as that may sound... it is often much more appropriate than "OMW, I hate that girl so much, she is such a witch." So no matter how much of a generational gap there may be, there is always a way to say something nicer than being flat out rude.

I think it is great that you want to be "brutally honest" about some of the groups you liked and didn't like on campus. What makes me cringe is this statement: "The houses I really wanted were Blue Caterpillar, Tweedledee, Bayard, Pishsalver and Jabberwocky- all very much considered top tier and where I think I could fit in best!" How do you know? If I were a Mom of one of the girls that had an unsuccessful recruitment at the said SEC school, I would think "how did this chic get a bid over my sweet, humble daughter?!" Just saying.......

LOL @ ellebud's "fries my cookies" comments.

I love you all as well, except for the OP and perberry/miss_ettiquette 2.0.

I'm calling BS on this entire story. Anyone who was legit and wanted to be "brutally honest" would have gone on and on about ALL of the houses during the first round. She's just not creative enough to do it. :rolleyes:

Well either way if she doesn't finish the story, somebody better. :mad:

And when I get bored.... :D

She can't finish, because there was this thing...but more on that later....

No dissing the CCers as a unit. Just that sometimes they come over all at once and expect the same atmosphere here as it is there. I was amused that nearly every reference to us there includes "They can be harsh/mean/bitchy/pickanadjectivehere. But they give good information."

MUSK81 08-16-2010 06:53 PM

CC can be all of that and then some! But they, too, give good information ...

@ellebud - I thought that was you!
