I miss Lloyd Carr :( But regardless of the coach, I still gotta pull for my Wolverines :)

Alright, Big 10/12 whatever they are announcement to come tonight.

My local news outlet is saying the divisions outlined in this article are correct, but we shall see at 7 PM.

They are saying the same on our local news. They also said that part of the deal was that OSU and Michigan will continue to play in the final regular season game every year. Two more minutes until we know for sure!

knight_shadow 09-01-2010 07:03 PM

^^^ I saw that on ESPN. I guess I'll need to come back to this thread once the announcement is made.

9 of 12 trophy games are preserved annually, which is good. They aren't saying OSU and Michigan will definitely be the last game of the season, but when they each win their division, they will play each other twice, which is cool. They purposely kept Michigan and Michigan State together. They are essentially saying what was on ESPN.

8 Games, 4 home, 4 away
No more than 2 consecutive Home or Road within conference
2 home, 2 road each half of the season

Wisconsin/Minnesota is preserved.
Nebraska was guaranteed to be in same division as Iowa.

It all seems to make sense. We'll see how it goes!

AGDee 09-01-2010 07:20 PM

Other random notes from the Big Ten Football Special:

First championship game will be Indiana, indoors. Not all will be indoors. May use NFL facilities and collegiate facilities

Discussion of future expansion: Make Nebraska feel welcome, work on divisions, then in December consider further expansion and whether it is smart or right.

Kappamd 09-01-2010 07:26 PM

Perhaps the last two teams in would feel more welcome if they changed their name to reflect that fact.

Hut Hut Couture

From the Plain Dealer

HUT-HUT COUTURE
Ohio State’s Jim Tressel is known far and wide for his sweater vest, a fashion statement that almost perfectly describes the man. He’s not the first college football choice to say a lot with his fashion choice:

Bobby Bowden, Florida State
Fashion: Straw hat. Bowden added it in the final decade of his career on doctor’s orders to protect his face against the sun.

Paul “Bear” Bryant, Alabama
Fashion: Houndstooth hat. Alabama ordered a 550-pound version of the hat to place on a stadium concession stand two years ago.

Woody Hayes, Ohio State
Fashion: Short-sleeved white shirt. The style, paired with a Block O cap, looked best in the snow, and Ohio State fans know the photo that may be the most famous of Hayes. He gave into a red jacket in the cold starting in 1969, but not without a fight.

Joe Paterno, Penn State
Fashion: Black glasses. Full outfit includes rolled-up khakis and black sneakers, but it’s a pair of the glasses that fetched $9,000 at a charity auction last year.

Nick Saban, Alabama
Fashion: Frown. Showed it off during the celebration of the Crimson Tide’s national title in January, when he looked like he just lost by 40 points.

Bo Schembechler, Michigan
Fashion: Blue cap with yellow M. When Michigan’s Cardiovascular Center unveiled a Schembechler bust last year, it was wearing the cap. His son wore it while delivering his father’s eulogy.

Steve Spurrier, South Carolina
Fashion: Visor. Coaches everywhere wear the visor now, but Spurrier was a trailblazer. He and Paterno made a bet on the 1998 Citrus Bowl, with the loser having to wear the other’s iconic fashion. Florida won, Spurrier put the visor on Paterno’s head, but it didn’t last long.

I would just like to say that, for now, my
MINNESOTA GOLDEN GOPHERS
are undefeated!:D

XanaduAZ 09-03-2010 04:33 AM

I'd really like to see Michigan do a lot better than they did last year. They played a really shitty season.

:)

We know how much longer that will last.

I'm sad we'll end up in different divisions, but at least we still get to battle for the axe!
