Has anyone tried the new stuff that is out...I believe Rembrant makes it? It almost looks like lipstick you put on your teeth, like a paint on whitener. From the commerical, it seemed like something you could do several times throughout the day.

I've been using a Sonicare toothbrush with whitening toothpaste and it has worked better than any whitening product I have tried.

A friend of mine told me this hint: Always drink tea and dark sodas through a straw so the front of your teeth don't get stained. Not much hope for coffee unless you're drinking iced coffee!

Just bought a box from my dentist today- the professional strength. Not a fan of how they feel.... and i'm afraid to swallow b/c i don't want to swallow the stuff (although it doesn't say that it'll hurt you!). We'll see how they turn out.

My boyfriend has been using the Night Effects for the past couple of weeks. There is definitely a difference but his teeth aren't as white as a dental-whitening job. The stuff looks really gross on the teeth, though. It almost looks like he painted sour cream over his teeth. Ew.

My dentist had a holiday special on bleaching trays. So, I went ahead and did that. I had a mold taken of my mouth last week and I pick up the trays on Wednesday. I'm supposed to use the trays every night for 2 weeks. I've heard that dental whitening is the only kind that REALLY works. The trays are good because they're specially designed for your mouth only; they get into every space that you have in your teeth.

If you have any crowns or porcelain fillings, I've heard that the bleaching trays won't work on those. That's the only thing I'm worried about. I have a porcelain filling in the back of my mouth from a cavity. The great thing about them is that they're matched to the color of your teeth. So, I'm scared I'll have this discolored patch on my back tooth after the bleaching. I have to ask my dentist about that.

I'll keep everyone updated on how my teeth look after the bleaching trays.

Is it true that to have the trays and stuff is like 200 bucks out of pocket beause it's considered cosmetic and insurance doesnt cover it? If you found a way insurance covers that let me know. I'm happy with crest white strips, but I too have heard the trays are the best way to go.

Insurance doesn't cover it. There may be some instances where it does (like if your teeth are really, really, really discolored).

The in-house laser whitening can cost $600 and up.

The bleaching trays average around $400.

My dentist is doing a special right now where the bleaching trays are $150. Of course, I took her up on that offer. :)

Just an update:

I've been doing the bleaching trays for a week. It's a 2 week process but after only a week the results are amazing! I've had so many of my friends compliment me. Today when I was at the mall, one of the cashiers said to me, "You have the nicest smile. Your teeth are straight and they're so white!" I was so excited! (sidenote: the bleaching trays will not make your teeth straight :) my straight teeth are the result of 2 years in braces...yuck).
My dentist told me (and was later confirmed after reading a bunch of studies) that since the bleaching trays get to the dentin of your teeth, the bleaching can last for 5 years plus.
The only thing that sucks about the trays is that it makes your teeth really sensitive. I accidently got an ice cube while drinking soda today and it was soooo painful. Also, the bleach that is used can irritate your gums. My gums are slightly red for about an hour after wearing the trays (I wear them at night). These side effects will, of course, go away after I stop using the trays.

Overall, I'm completely thrilled with the results. If you happen to have some extra money, definitely do this. It works better than the Crest Whitestrips and the results will last for a lot longer.

I had the Zoom in office whitening done (about 3 weeks ago) with great results. I also received fitted bleaching trays that I can use 3 times if I want to make them even whiter in the next few months. (for touchups)

I need to start using these products. That dang coffee!

The Whitestrips work wonders. I tried them in January and could not believe what a difference they made. I'm kind of curious to try the premium whitestrips.

Bumping this thread up after a year-long hiatus.

I'd like to hear from those of you that posted earlier. Are you still using the Crest Whitening strips, or have you found other products? It was suggested to me to try "Plus White". Also, I was in Wal-Mart the other night and saw "White Light" (and saw the infomercial for it about an hour later) where you use a tray and a light system like the dentist uses.

I tried the Crest stuff that you paint on at night, and let me tell you, that stuff tasted HORRIBLE. I had to stop after a week because I felt like I was going to puke because of the taste.

I'll be in a wedding in two months and am thinking of buying the whitening strips, as well as some whitening toothpaste. I'm still listening for your success stories.
