I don't like Ruben.

I only like Clay because he reminds me of Barry Manilow and Barry's my boo.

I liked this video from this year's finale, but it shows the decline in talent on the show.

And boo @ you being a Fanilow :o

And Dr. Phil you're right, she's just another statistic.

With all the $ she has earned why doesn't she actually put it to some good use and, I don't know, go to college. Oh but wait, that means she wouldn't have taken 9 years to get her GED after dropping out of high school. You ain't gonna have your voice forever you need to have a back-up plan.

Says who? Look at Patti LaBelle, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Luther Vandross (until he had a stroke), etc. The list goes on and on. Chances are, if she isn't doing something like crack or smoking she'll have her voice for a really, really long time. How many singers go on to college after making it big?

Y'all be smokin that GOOD crack.

EXACTLY!! lol Why aren't they saying the same thing about all the other stars? There are others who haven't graduated high school.

ETA: 'Tasia is my favorite idol. Oh...and I like Clay too. I've liked him from the moment he auditioned on Idol. BTW, Copa Cabana, Mandy and I write the Songs are the STUFF!

Uhhh...this thread is about Fantasia's education level and not that of others. And we already concluded that Fantasia had her GED prior to getting her honorary high school diploma.

As I said, a diploma or equivalent should be the minimum education level. That applies to anyone in this society--celeb or nonceleb.

Prettyface08 06-16-2010 11:53 AM

Uhh, very rarely do threads stay on their intended topic.

Additionally, I don't care about her (or any other star's) education level. It is their business.

DrPhil 06-16-2010 12:27 PM

:)

Uhh...was that your way of bringing up the other topic or just questioning why we didn't care to discuss other celebs right now?

Well, on that uncaring note, thanks for joining us in a thread about Fantasia's GED and honorary diploma.

My pleasure. I try to do what I can do when I can do it.

There's a point there though, we don't tell Brad Pitt that he should go back and finish his degree even though his looks won't last forever. We don't usually care about a celeb's education unless it makes news because they say something about it. A college degree is pretty optional in show business barring perhaps classical training in the theater.
