Our fraternity http://www.AlphaOmegaTheta.com was founded in brooklyn in 1946 and spread to Long Island and Connecticut durring the 50's. AOT had a great run until the late 90's.

There was hazing, but college fraternities in the 50's-90's had more than their fair share of hazing. Some still haze today.

Check us out at the above link. We are looking for men of good character to form new chapters of AOT.

Um, where do you get off using "AOT"? Who the phuk are you? Angelina Jolie?

So "always" means since 1946? Does that mean my GLO, founded in 1874, has been around since FOREVER?

Just to clear some things up, there is no such thing as a sorority sponsoring high school girls as a part of their organization. Charters are only given to groups at universities that qualify. I highly doubt any fraternity does this either. Any secret society or "sorority/fraternity" in high school has been started by students with no recognition from any greek organization. To be honest I think it's kind of pointless because most high school sororities are based on popularity contests, haze much more than most college sororities, and don't in any way prepare you for college rush. We laughed at the girls who put things references to their high school sororities on their recs. It's stupid and childish.

Perhaps some are refering to the youth groups that some sororities and fraternities have at high schools.

Well, when you're in high school, like something that has been around for like 62 years is totally like hella old. And like something that has been around for like 134 years is totally like even older than that. So yeah, your GLO has totally like been around since like forever. ;)

In different parts of the country, there are highschools which permit those types of organizations. Based on my understand of a conversationt hat I had once with an individual who was i one, they are just local bodies, not incorporated and do not have a national presence. I will say;however that in the High School I attended, there were attempts made to that affect to no avail because administration got complaints that from local gangs represented in the school that it was unfair to let some students promote their affiliation while others were not allowed. Since administration was stupid, the couldn't justifiy the the exception so the fraternity was dissolved.

I will not tell you what you can not do. You can do whatever you want to do with the proper research and preparation. I would suggest that you look at some of the christian sororities and frats because they formed these orgs in non-traditional atomspheres. They might be a good resource to you.

My younger brother (who is in fifth grade) is a member of a GLO called Sigma Beta, or something along those lines.
It is sponsered by a College level fraternity and they allow 5th-12th graders to join. The main purpose is for educational growth, but my brother is a part of a Step team thru it. By being in this group, he has a better chance of being in the fraternity at a college level. but this orginization was not started by people at their school. I doubt you will be able to start your own without the help of an existing GLO.
but i may be wrong

High school fraternities and sororities are still popular in some places. They tend to operate across several high schools within the same town. I was not a member of one but most of my high school friends were(are). See:

OK?

Your website link doesn't come up. The link for the org doesn't lead to anything in the listing on wikipedia. Your myspace page comes up on a google search, though. Interesting. The founding date is mid-October, but you say because of the "Christmas season" in which you were founded your colors are red and green. Wouldn't orange and black have been more appropriate to the season? And so you're now going to "charter" chapters at colleges in addtion to high schools? How are you getting college guys to join a historically high school-based fraternity? And what is up with that strange video montage set to music of high school-looking-age guys circa the 1960s eating pizza and then giving each other buzz haircuts? I'm going to be honest, it creeped me out.

We had a sorority and a black fraternity which were both city-wide. The sorority did quite a bit of philanthropy, but besides it's formal wasn't terribly exciting. The "hazing" of the big brothers was a blast.

Alpha Sigma Phi... kind of like that really big, old college fraternity founded at Yale? Hm. I'm glad ample research was done when that high school one was named.
