I don't actually know that.
I just threw it in with my example. Girls ALWAYS say things like "I was prom queen, cheer captain, etc!" That's awesome. But if you look around at all the girls in recruitment, there are many other cheerleaders and prom queens with the same stats. |

I'm glad you're confident. Confidence is a good thing. On this thread however, it's translating more as cockiness/entitlement. Just something to keep in mind for the fall.

why do u people keep putting pics in ur messages? it makes no ssense!
and im not trying to sound entitled..im just aware of my qualifications and want to maximize my options. you wouldnt judge a genious for applying to harvard instead of community college would u?! |
Oh dear god. Honestly, I just don't know what else to say.
Please come back and tell your recruitment story. I can't wait to see the way this one turns out. |

Since all you guys seem to care about is spelling and grammar, here you go. It seems kind of pointless to type all of this out when it's just the internet, but if everyone is going to judge me I might as well prove I'm not a bimbo.
I WILL go through recruitment in the fall because I DO know my stats (sorry...statistics ) are competitive enough to get me wherever I want. You can doubt me all you want, but I know my worth. I also know I don't need to waste my time with a bunch of losers like you who have no life and sit in front of a computer instead of talking to real people. I hope to god my sisters aren't lilke all of you! |

RebelCheerBabii-
It's cool to have opinions of chapters as you go through recruitment. That is why you'll write them down in your notebook, especially if there are many chapters on your campus. However, it is not advisable to act rude at any chapter, because word does get around and you don't want to be "that girl". Besides, your mind can change, and you don't want to burn any bridges by acting rude initially and then finding out that you like that chapter later. Just write it down. To further the guy analogy, think about it this way: let's say you meet this great guy and you seem to be hitting it off. However, then he hears how mean and bitchy you are to other guys and wonders if you'll be like that to him and then he's not interested. Conversely, if he heard that you are nice and polite to everyone, you might go on another date with him. Same goes in recruitment. It is true that we don't know you and we don't know where you will be going to school. We don't know which chapters you'd be interested in and where would be a good fit. Not all schools are equally competitive. You may still be the star if you are going to a small/noncompetitive school, or if you to to a large, competitive flagship state school with a big Greek system, you will find that you are one of the many pretty popular cheer captains with a fantastic GPA. That's why you were admitted. Recruitment is also like a job interview. You can have an impressive resume, but if the interview is a flop, you're not getting the job. Things like grades, test scores, activities, (recs too---you didn't mention those!) etc. get you a "foot in the door", but if you don't have a good conversation or they don't think your personality fits, you're not going to get a bid. |
why does everyone in this site think im going to be mean to people when i go through rush?!?!? you pepole dont know me and have never met me therefore you have no idea how id be in recruitment. i woudnt dream of being rude to someone just cuz im not sure i fit in with there house cuz i know that for other girls that house i dont like is there dream house!! thats totally fine with me...........thats why there are different sororities to choose from!
as far as connectiosn go, your right........i dont have them. in fact, i have no college connections as im the first in my family to go to a four year college. im very proud of that fact and dont appreciate you insulting my family or my background. if being greek is all about who you know, then your right i wont get in. but if its about who you are and what youve done with your life with sports and grades and stuff then ya, i think i have a pretty good shot. irregardless i wouldnt want to be apart of something thats all about who you know and who your daddy knows anyway!!!!!!! |

Seriously, you talk and act like a 10 year old. You need to grow up. Maybe your attitude served you well in your HS class of 44 where all the other girls look like manatees, but college is a different matter. Did you ever have someone transfer into your HS who bragged about how they were popular at their last school and no one could stand them? Because that's pretty much what you're doing. |

Rather than insult alumnae who are giving you great advice and know what they're talking about, why not read the recruitment threads people have linked to and inform yourself about how recruitment actually works? There's a lot more to it than showing up and looking good on paper. |
