It is stupid that a "white" sorority couldn't be seen as the 1st place organization because some people were "offended" or "upset" that they won. That's pretty pathetic in my mind. The people who made such an issue about it seem just as racist as they claim others to be. Good grief. If I was a Zeta, I'd be pretty pissed.

I'm glad that both organizations did well at this step-off, but to take away someone's "honor" because there was racial controversy says a lot about today's society.

Just "WOW" is pretty much all I can say. Oh, and FWIW (before I get flamed for my opinion) I respect all GLOs and some of my best friends are SGRhos, AKAs and Deltas. I don't really know many Zetas, but the ones I have met have been sweet, as well. I just think that in this day and age people need to see beyond color and be happy that they can share a stage and an incredible talent.

Whenever someone says some of my best friends are...they immediately lose credibility with me.

Annual Unity Stepshow at the U. of Arkansas

Now THIS is interesting (don't forget the audio):

Apparently AKA has been spreading the love for some years at the U. of Arkansas.

Saying that they shouldn't have won makes YOU seem a little childish. Oh, and if you're going to come on here and make comments (or at least attempt to insult me) please say something that makes sense to people OTHER THAN YOU.

What does it mean? Ask your minority friends. Maybe they'll know. And clearly at least one other person understood it. see below.

And it is official...FYL to ZTA for using a 2008 routine (based on steps from 19..I mean 2007) with NO revisions! If your routine can be found on youtube (and its not from the same year) then your step show performance is an #epicfail.

They're all Greeks from various Atlanta area schools; it's possible they're mostly Atlanta University Center (AUC) students. I am sure that my soRHOrs are from Chattanooga, TN. :)

They even did a nice exhibition step between the end of the Ryan Cameron Old Skool/New Skool Step Show and the beginning of the Sprite Stepoff. They stepped together, then took off their sweatshirts to represent each D9 org and did their org's steps. It ended nicely by presenting each org's national president/representative on stage and being walked off with their two steppers. It was pretty cool.

For years, most stepshows have been held on college campuses where mostly college students and those in the local community attended, sponsored and organized by the BGLO's. These huge productions like the Sprite Step-Off are only a recent phenomenon since the "Stomp the Yard" movie. These big companies could care less about the tradition and culture, just about making money of course.

Let's not forget that some of the biggest step shows are alumni/alumnae sponsored.

 Now, that really tears it. After stepping for 16 years of being involved in the stepping tradition, ZTA should've been able to start at least modifying/remixing/customizing the steps they've learned. Honestly, D9 does that all the time, and I saw one org do a step that I've only seen ZPBS do. I presume that's why the audience didn't cheer when they did it: hot step that we've seen before.

I will give them credit though. I watched the 2008 video, and they added this cool little roll thing they did before starting the exit stroll as well as shouting, "We wear the crown!" (cute!) Besides that, the video looks a lot like what I watched last Saturday night.

You beat me to it. I don't know who will disagree with me, but I honestly feel that the best annual step show in Atlanta is the All-Alumni Step Show sponsored by the Stone Mountain-Lithonia Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta. Well organized, entertaining, and your $25 in advance ticket is going back into the chapters programs to help the young people and community.

I think I'll stick with shows and events affiliated with D9 orgs and/or local NPHC chapters, but not promoters or event planners that are D9 members. There is a difference.

Yep, that is one of the ones I was thinking about.
