So if this isn't "the drawing in question" then what is it? Because IDK if anyone else noticed, but the name at the top of the crucifix isn't Jesus, it's Jalen. And it isn't at the top of the page like it's just a name on the assignment, it's a nameplate on the cross.

I noticed that, too, but the conversation went so far left-field, I decided not to bring it up. :o

I know a LOT of Raptors/Knicks/Suns fans who would gladly put Jalen Rose up there, to be perfectly honest. Maybe the kid is just pissed about Toronto narrowly missing the playoffs in 05?

According to one of the articles posted here, the kid was asked to leave school on the 2nd, and he wasn't able to return to school until the 7th. Sounds like a suspension to me.

Also, a suspension can be any length of time, from 1/2 a day to weeks. So a "don't come back for 24 hours" can be a suspension if it involves disciplinary action.

It can be for any length of time, but in my experience it is always for a definite period of time, not just "don't come back until we say you can." And the bolded is key. The school is saying that it wasn't disciplinary; they seem to be saying it was (mental) health/safety related rather than disciplinary. If it wasn't disciplinary, it wasn't a suspension.

Maybe dad had him do another one to show what it looked like.

The flip side is if this is "the drawing in question," then it makes sense that. seeing the name "Jalen" on the cross, the teacher might ask who it is being crucified and be concerned. What might not make as much sense is dad's claim that the kid said it was Jesus at first.

When I first saw the "Jalen" I figured that he couldn't remember the 'Inri' or thought maybe that was where Jesus' name was written. Shoot I know plenty of adults who thought "Inri" = Jesus...like flat out Jesus (different than the Jesus of Nazerene, King of the Jews that it really means). Maybe he thought that if he was drawing himself on the cross that he should write Jalen (assuming that is his name).
