Time to stop giving these people attention. I must have tuned in after the hurling becuase I did see most of the interview on the Today show, but it was just Dad answering questions. I thought Meredith Viera was way too easy on him.

So yesterday as I was watching this story unfold the news said military helicopters had been scrambled to intercept the balloon. If this is proven to be a hoax I hope they end up paying for any of the cost incurred by the rescue operations.

Legal buffs, could the parents be subject to jail time, too?

My mom just told me that she read an article about how the mom and dad met at an acting school, and are apparently SERIOUSLY in debt to some production company. I guess they recently tried to pitch a show to TLC with no luck.

If this wasn't a hoax, that little boy better have seen a belt by now. If it was, I vote the parents go to the backyard and pick out their own switches.

He said something to the effect of "this is the only interview we're going to do" on Larry King Live, and the next morning he was on Today, Good Morning America, etc  |

What good will beating, whipping or hitting a little kid (who did what he thought his parents wanted him to do) accomplish? This isn't a pro/con of corporal punishment (I'm not here to debate), but a question as to what good hitting a child when he did what he thought his parents wanted him to do. |
^^ I agree with you, ree-Xi. I was thinking the kid was a little dope, but if the parents TOLD him to hide, he shouldn't be to blame. They're whack-jobs!
