Time to stop giving these people attention. I must have tuned in after the hurling becuase I did see most of the interview on the Today show, but it was just Dad answering questions. I thought Meredith Viera was way too easy on him.

So yesterday as I was watching this story unfold the news said military helicopters had been scrambled to intercept the balloon. If this is proven to be a hoax I hope they end up paying for any of the cost incurred by the rescue operations.

Legal buffs, could the parents be subject to jail time, too?

After watching that clip, I felt really bad for those kids, for a variety of reasons.

They should look familiar. They were on WifeSwap. And Father Heene showed how much of a douchebag he is.

Apparently they've been on Wifeswap twice, at least that is what one news station was reporting this morning.

My mom just told me that she read an article about how the mom and dad met at an acting school, and are apparently SERIOUSLY in debt to some production company. I guess they recently tried to pitch a show to TLC with no luck.

If this wasn't a hoax, that little boy better have seen a belt by now. If it was, I vote the parents go to the backyard and pick out their own switches.

They've also been reportedly shopping around a reality TV show of their own family recently.... which makes me even more doubtful about the validity of this whole situation.

He said something to the effect of "this is the only interview we're going to do" on Larry King Live, and the next morning he was on Today, Good Morning America, etc

I have to disagree with you. In this child's 6-year-old mind, he was doing something because of what he heard (or thought he heard) the parents say. The child said on live television that he hid because his parents "said it was for the show". He was trying to do as he believed his parents wanted.

What good will beating, whipping or hitting a little kid (who did what he thought his parents wanted him to do) accomplish?

This isn't a pro/con of corporal punishment (I'm not here to debate), but a question as to what good hitting a child when he did what he thought his parents wanted him to do.

^^ I agree with you, ree-Xi. I was thinking the kid was a little dope, but if the parents TOLD him to hide, he shouldn't be to blame. They're whack-jobs!

Go read my post again. Typically, when two people are sent to go pick out "their own" switches, they are to be used on them alone. ;)
