I can only see a RC saying that if it was brought up. I dont think "tell your PNM's in your recruitment groups not to post on greekchat.com" is part of the RC training. Which is why I dont think that advice was freely given.

You're right, I asked her about it. I just wanted to see what her opinion on it was since all of you seem to think I'm totally "clueless." She said she didn't think it would affect my chances of anything but that I could get a biased opinion from members of the website. I'm just listening to what she says.

Our next party is Friday. Saturday is pref and Sunday is bid day.

Honestly, no one can tell you whether or not it will affect your chances. For that to happen, sisters (not rho gams) in the houses will have to a) see your posts, b) figure out who you are and c) care. Yes, odds are against these threads really ruining your rush, but why risk it? I think you have definitely acted clueless, but you're making a good decision by not going further with it.

Hey everyone, just for FYI I talked to my "Recruitment Mama" tonight and she has told me not to post anything else on GreekChat. She said I would become discouraged or could get a biased opinion.

Sorry everyone, after recruitment is over I can fill everyone in on things. PM if you're really curious.

I will say tonight went well, I liked just about everyone!

Have you actually read threads and posts on here? Bias and discouragement? We are known for telling PNMs to give all chapters a chance, to realize they may not make it through, but that it only takes one invite as only one bid can be accepted, and we see value in membership at a variety of schools and chapter sizes.

If you're going to stop posting give a plausible reason, not some crap we all know (and anyone who reads by lurking) isn't true. You can always just stop posting and never tell us why, and move on.

UGAalum94 09-14-2009 08:58 PM

I think it does seem plausible.

If you had asked your rush guide/counselor if you should be talking about your rush online, don't you think she would have advised against it?

RM probably doesn't know greekchat and probably thinks we're something like greekrank.com

ETA: this may sound snippy and contentious, and I don't mean it to. If the poster herself was supposed to have said this, I'd be right there with you, VS, but since it seems like a probably Rho Chi reaction, it doesn't seem that outlandish.

Buttonz 09-14-2009 09:04 PM

Or maybe her Rho Chi is on GC (either as a poster or lurks), knows who she is on here, and also knows that there are other sorority girls from her school who lurk and have figured it out.

Update-

I was invited by all my top choices tonight! It was an amazing night! :)
I cried when I had to choose who my top two were going to be but I'm sure I made the right decision for myself! :)

ThetaPrincess24 09-21-2009 05:22 PM

So bid day was yesterday. How did you do?

AZTheta 09-27-2009 10:45 AM

I'm thinking I know how this story ended, since it's been a week w/ no news from the OP.

ThetaPrincess24 09-27-2009 05:57 PM

I am assuming the same sister! :)

Jimmy Choo 09-29-2009 11:52 PM

So sad...I was looking forward to hearing the happy ending ;)

Maelynn1 10-06-2009 12:05 PM

HI everyone! It has surely been a long time since I have been on here. If anyone is still interested in my story, I'll go ahead and begin telling it...

There are 8 sororities at my school and all of them are equally awesome!!!!!!!!!

I really enjoy ice cream so I'm going to make mine relate to that!

*Mint Chocolate Chip*
*Strawberry*
*Peach*
*Cookie Dough*
*Vanilla Bean*
*Rocky Road*
*Butter Pecan*
*Coffee*

I'm curious to know if your "dorm friend" received a bit, but do continue with the story...
