Again, I liked Jeanine/Brandon and Randi/Evan. The others were forgettable.

I need to review all the contestants' names (i.e. I can't remember Jeanine/Brandon by name, but I'd probably remember their dance).

I do remember Randi/Evan by name - they're one of my favorites. Caitlyn and Jason are another favorite couple of mine. I enjoyed both their numbers last night (although I really don't like Mia Michaels, so I'm surprised I enjoyed the butt dance). The Rumba was good, too (but I don't remember the dancers' names). The rest? Meh.

Janette and Brandon did the Dave Scott "Rock vs. Hip Hip" routine.

I really like Caitlyn and Jason - have since auditions - but they've fallen off since the Bollywood routine. I personally didn't think the Paso Doble was that great. :(

Agree, I thought the paso was pretty bad. Compare that paso to one done on Dancing with the Stars and you'll see what I mean.

I liked the rock & hip hop and the butt dance a lot, and I liked the broadway one, too. I thought the first hip hop dance was lame and pretty forgetable.

I cannot put a finger on the reason, but I have to admit that I just don't care for Kayla at all. I don't necessarily dislike her, but I can't figure out why the judges drool over her that much. Meh. I do love Melissa, the ballet dancer. I hope she sticks around for a while!

Ditto on all counts.

Thank you! I don't get it, either. My favorite girls are probably Janeane, Randi and Caitlin.

And I'm glad Nigel said what he did to Phillip last night. He does have a lot of appeal, but he just doesn't have the skills. If he sticks around much longer dancing the way he has, everyone (especially the other contestants) are going to be frustrated and question why. It really makes me wonder how in the world he made it into the top 20. Like I pointed out before, it seems as if they handed out a lot of second chances this season, and to people who really didn't deserve them. I do like Phillip, and I love watching him do what he does well, but this just isn't the right competition for him.

Agreed...unless I think someone is out-of-this-world fantastic, I hate it when judges kiss someone's bootie so much. I tend to dislike those people simply because they are receiving semi-undeserved praise. This goes for other realtiy shows, too (Idol, ANTM, Runway, etc).

Agreed, again. This is also the way I was feeling about Asuka...she was getting too many chances and I felt like they kept keeping her because she was a ballroom dancer. I know it's important for the show to have different style dancers (especially when it comes to dance-for-your-life solos...because it's boring to watch six contemporary ones), but I don't think it's fair to the other contestants who perform better week to week.

***

I think the right two dancers went home last night...I really hope Jason and Caitlyn have better luck and skill next week because I don't want to see them in the bottom again!

WinniBug 06-26-2009 05:19 PM

I was ready for Auska to go home
And did you notice Vitolio quit and started doing his little "dance, dance, dance" twitch with 2 seconds left on the clock? It's like he just stopped

Tropical_Dancer 06-26-2009 06:16 PM

I agree about the Kayla thing, its like Kherington all over again. Kaylas tricks are amazing but I havent seen anything to make me really stop and look.

Also I hope Caitlin and Jason get out of the bottom next week. I think Caitlins solo might save them next week, it was awesome, and she definately deserves to be in the top 10.

ZTAngel 07-01-2009 09:40 PM

Maybe I don't get it because I'm not a dancer but why do all the dances have to have a story?? "This week, you're an alien and you're going to procreate with the last man on earth." wtf? I don't get why they just can't dance without the crazy stories.

WinniBug 07-01-2009 10:32 PM

I LOVED the ballet! It's the first time a dance actually made me tear up!

I think I want Melissa to win

I came here and read some of the comments before I actually watched the show. When I read this, I was originally laughing because I thought you made this alien thing up as an exaggeration of the stories that are usually told through the dances. Needless to say, I was also laughing when I learned that they actually did this.

I thought that the actual dance was good, and I liked it, but the story/costume completely threw off the entire thing and I couldn't fully enjoy it. I could have probably used that same choreography with about twenty other storylines that would have been 100 times less weird than that.

With all of the other performances being great, if not excellent, I'd be very surprised if Caitlin and Jason aren't in the bottom 3 this week (which is a shame because they're both very good dancers who got stuck with a weird theme).

WCsweet<3 07-02-2009 02:31 AM

In the past weeks, I have always had at least two or three dances that I didn't like. This week is difficult to decide. While I am happy to have classical ballet on the show, I do not think they did the best job representing it. Melissa did a great job dancing, but Ade could have done more. Also, for variations, it was fairly boring. It focused more on emotion and character than actual dance and while emotion and character are important, this is a TV show about dance and to show ballet to people (some for the first time) I think they could have chosen a much better pas de duex. I don't know I know some people like it, but I was not impressed.

Boyfriend dittos that and he is a ballet dancer, so he has some actual opinion.

For some reason I don't like Caitlin in the partner dancers, but like her solos. Weird. However, I liked her tonight.

SydneyK 07-02-2009 09:35 AM

I totally agree about questioning the producers/choreographers need for each dance to have a theme. I felt really bad for Caitlyn and Jason. I get that variety spices up the show, but from a competition POV, I wish they would have the same choreographer coming up with all the routines each week. That way, everyone is equally at risk for being stuck as the crash test dummy or the alien impregnator. Then again, I'm biased: I like Caitlyn and Jason and don't like to see them get screwed.

I hate that I had the same reaction to the chain dance as Mia Michaels. (I generally think she's over-rated and pretentious, and therefore don't like agreeing with her. :o Childish, yes. I can't help it.) The chain distracted me, even though the dancers did a good job with it.

I'm not much of a fan of Kayla's. I don't understand what all the hype is with her.

LeslieAGD 07-02-2009 10:49 AM

I thought all the routines were very strong last night!

I think Caitlyn/Jason and Karla/Vitolio will definitely be on the bottom, but I am unsure of who will be the third couple.
Maybe Kayla/Kupono or Randi/Evan...?
