Agreed. It looked more like a prom dress my mother would have forbidden me to wear. Though it must be nice to have that much money laying around.

That girl was ridiculous - for a second I thought I was watching My Super Sweet Sixteen.

ETA: Is this girl like WAL?

I have yet to see one dress that I love and/or would wear lol.

I don't get the whole mermaid style, it's so weird!

I think my love of the show is seeing how the bride's friends/family react to her trying on different dresses. Plus, there's Randy, I totally love him lol.

My favourite was the bride that brought her three guy friends, and one of them tried on his dream dress lol. They were SO funny, and it just looked like a fun group to be in.

The dress she ended up buying was so gorgeous though.

And I saw that trashy lingerie one, I think - wasn't there an episode where a woman wanted it in white instead and it ended up looking totally see through?? Well no kidding, it's not clothes! lol.

I never picture the dresses on me, but sometimes I really appreciate the magic they do with the women that come in there.

Except for the trashy lingerie dress.

The saddest part is that the trashy lingerie dress has been, BY FAR, the most tried on dress on the show.

Yes, it's been a little while now since I've seen someone try on the specific dress you're talking about, but for a while there, it was being tried on once or twice an episode. It made me wonder if it was a case of product placement.

I love this show! I actually got my Monique Lhuillier dress there a few years ago. I had heard horror stories about kleinfelds and didn't want to go, but my mom talked me into it. Being where I am from Kleinfelds is legendary and unavoidable. She specifically asked for a "nice consultant" and she was. I don't remember her name, but I don't think she has been featured on the show. After I picked out my dress and came back another time to pick out accessories (the veil etc...) Ronnie spoke to me for an hour about everything! He even gave me approval on my bridesmaid dresses and said that the brand I was going through was as good a quality if not better than what he sells in the store (they were Ann Taylor). Overall Kleinfelds was an incredible experience, my dress made me feel like a star, and I can't wait until I have a daughter and can bring her there for her dress. I love to watch the show now and reminisce about my experience there.

Live-in and I have been watching the show together when they've got the marathons on. We're having "those" conversations now. When we get married, IF we have a wedding (I'm still on the fence about that one), at least I know where to start. We'll never afford Kleinfeld's but there have to be some decent stores (besides David's) in Chicago.

I can't tell you where I'm not starting: no mermaid dress for me, and no see-through trashy lingerie dress.

Question for KSUViolet: if I get engaged, but do not have a wedding, would I win at life?

According to the rules of winning, you do not.

A win consists of huge assed ring and a huge assed wedding.

Bonus points if it's a huge assed wedding that you can't really afford.

Thanks for playing.

I enjoy watching this show. It doesn't seem like they ever show dresses that are not strapless. Even if they do, the bride wants to cut off the sleeves or straps right away.

I also hate that bustier on a tutu dress. Thngs like that make me feel like an old fogey. I guess looking chaste on your wedding day is passe'.

Are they starting a new season?

joliebelle 04-23-2010 11:36 PM

Did anyone see the season premiere tonight? It was...interesting.

joliebelle 04-24-2010 12:16 AM

yep, that was the one...as well as another. I can't believe that they had to "haggle" to lower the price for a dress that was 4 or 5 years old, and to still have found a lower price elsewhere.

Also, spending 11k on a dress the day you get engaged is a little insane to me.

southbymidwest 04-24-2010 12:20 AM

And of course there was that dress that the pageant queen wanted, the short 2010 variation of lingerie style dress that everyone tried on last year. "But I want to be sexxxxxyyyyy." Pout pout. And Dad was liking that dress? Whoa, my husband would be like, "not paying for this one, sweetie. I'm sure you can find the same thing at Frederick's of Hollywood for 6500 dollars less."
