How so? It's a known fact that NPC and NPHC sororities don't disclose their membership selection processes. I believe the same is true of all national GLOs. So, by process of elimination, she must be in a local. If her local wants to disclose their MS process, so be it.

It's local bashing to automatically assume ALL locals discuss their MS practices, and to imply that it's wrong to do so.

And as I said - she made it CLEAR that the NPCs on her campus talk about it too. It's not a local/national issue. It's a campus culture issue. I'm sure that some of the people who are  at her discussing this have sisters on her campus that are doing the same thing.

Honestly, no one seems to be "bashing" in this thread. She stated in a previous thread that she was in a local. Then, she came to this thread and revealed her MS practices. There was no "assumption" by the other posters -- obviously, her local allows her to reveal MS practices. It looked like they were just clarifying that they couldn't talk about MS because of NPC membership.

Fixed that.

Anytime someone from a local comes on here and says something that doesn't jibe w/ national practices, everyone assumes that all locals are the same. They are not. Lumping them all together is the same as assuming all chapters of a national haze because one of them gets busted for it.

No, bashing would be to say, "Hey, locals are terrible!"

I have read back through this (although, why, is the question), and don't see any bashing. The gal from the local clearly wasn't offended by anything said. In common practice, bashing usually elicits a negative response from the bashee.;)

Fixed my post by bolding what I already said? OK...

Again, no one "bashed" this woman. The previous posters just explained that their inclusion in the NPC prevented them from discussing MS practices. No one put down locals. No one acted superior. I really don't see how you came to that conclusion

33girl 10-16-2008 02:25 PM

Because a lot of it is subtle. Sorry, but I've just seen this so much on GC and I get tired of it.

SWTXBelle 10-16-2008 02:29 PM

Local "bashing"?

I think you are seeing something that is not there. Really, I went back over the thread, and there is no bashing. It may be that in past threads there was some, and perhaps that has made you hypersensitive, but I don't think this particular thread is bashing.

If NPC members on the op's campus ARE talking about membership selection, they are wrong.

APhiAnna 10-16-2008 02:37 PM

I'm sorry but this is ridiculous. You are putting bitchiness in my words that was never even remotely intended. She said in another post she was in a local, she clearly stated she didn't understand why we couldn't talk about it, I explained. Maybe it was uninformed of me to assume that all locals don't keep membership selection private, but that is in no way "bashing". Please stop trying to point out the "subtle" way I was doing it because there were no such intentions. Everybody else sees my point. Stop fishing for drama.

Hey, no worries, I do not feel "bashed" or offended in any way. I am in a local, and our rules are different from those of nationals, but 33girl is correct that in my campus's (fairly laid back) Greek culture, MS practices aren't exactly something that gets shouted from the rooftops, but among friends who are in different houses, it's not really a taboo subject.

Exactly my point. It is not a "you discuss this because you're in a local" issue....it is a campus culture issue.

Like I said...some of the posters freaking out over the prospect of openly discussing MS more than likely have sisters at Entchen's campus who are doing exactly that.

Don't put words/intentions in my mouth because my post in no way inferred that.
Okay, I have to grammar bash;) your post did not imply that. What she inferred from your post, is that you were bashing. :)

Sorry, pet peeve. Carry on.
