http://www.mtv.com/shared/media/news...-big04-mtv.jpg Shar Jackson wants something Britney Spears has. A music career. The former "Moesha" star, in the spotlight lately for recently giving birth to her second child with Spears' husband, Kevin Federline, is going full force in 2005 with her long-in-development pop group, Mpulz. "It's a five-girl group, multiracial, pop, R&Bish, really, really, funky," Jackson said of the group at VH1's Big in '04 Awards (see "Craziness, Politics, And Plenty Of 'Reality' At VH1 Big In '04 Awards"). Mpulz first appeared on 2001's "The Princess Diaries" soundtrack, but lineup changes have delayed the release of their debut album, which will feature some familiar producers and guests. "I'm not gonna say yet, I want it to be a big surprise, but it's some really incredible people," Jackson said. The album will include material written by Jackson about her situation with Federline, which served as tabloid fodder for months. The first single, "Hot Girls," is due early next year. "It's kind of fitting because, you know, we're hot girls," Jackson said. Meanwhile, Jackson is also shooting a reality show about her life. "It's just following the life of a single mom in Hollywood, you know, just raising her kids and doing her thing," she said. And how are the young ones? "They're awesome," she said, obviously missing them. "Don't talk about them, I'm gonna cry." |

http://www.mtv.com/shared/media/news...n-diamonds.jpg When it comes to fashion, Lil' Kim is perhaps better known for what she's not wearing than what she is. However, the Queen Bee is looking to change that with the launch of her Hollyhood clothing line. Described as clothing for "the trendy fashionista," Hollyhood will be designed by Kim and feature a collection of tops, denim, active and fashion wear for women, with prices ranging from $25 to $200. There will also be a more upscale and limited-edition collection designed with special attention by Lil' Kim, ranging from $75 to $2000. The line will be available at select specialty and department stores worldwide in the fall of next year. "I've always expressed my love for fashion through my music," Kim said in a statement. "Hollyhood is a label for those who believe in my philosophy that there are no rules when it comes to fashion — it's about having fun and choosing to dress in a way that makes you feel good." While the launch of Hollyhood marks Kim's entrance into fashion, the diminutive diva has already been dabbling in jewelry. In August, she launched her Royalty watch line (see "Lil' Kim Calls Press Conference To Profess Her Innocence"). This year has been an eventful one for the Queen Bee. In April, Kim was indicted on perjury and obstruction of justice charges related to 2001 shooting incident at New York radio station Hot 97 (see "Lil' Kim Indicted For Lying About Hot 97 Shootout With Capone"). She later pleaded innocent in U.S. District Court in New York; her trial is scheduled to begin on February 28. On a more positive note, Kim launched Ll' Kim Cares, an organization to help battered women, runaway children and homeless people. She was also the subject of an undergraduate English class at Syracuse University that focused on the cultural significance of her lyrics. The class entitled "Introduction to Race and Discourse: Hip-Hop Eshu: Queen B@#$H 101" centered on hip-hop and "black life in Africa's diaspora" as well as gender and sexuality issues, with a focus on the rapper. — Rashaun Hall |

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Rapper Young Buck was charged on Monday with stabbing a fellow performer in a dispute over an autograph that touched off a melee at a Los Angeles-area hip-hop awards show last month, prosecutors said. Young Buck, whose real name is David Darnell Brown, attacked rapper Jimmy James Johnson after Johnson was refused an autograph by Dr. Dre and then punched the rap impresario in the face, prosecutors said. Dre, whose true name is Andre Young, was waiting to go onstage to receive a lifetime achievement award at the Nov. 15 Vibe Awards show in Santa Monica, California. The dispute set off a chair-throwing brawl that spread through the audience of about 1,000, but did not halt the ceremony, which was later televised on network UPN. Johnson was arrested and remains in custody on a suspected parole violation, prosecutors said. Brown, 23, faces up to eight years in prison if convicted of the charges filed on Monday, prosecutors said. He remains free on $500,000 bail and was set to be arraigned on Monday. |
