Still Not VOTING. . .but

Another reason to vote for Ruben!!!!

Dear Soror,

I am sending this message in response to several inquiries received lately as to whether the mother of Ruben Studdard, one of the 2 "American Idol Finalists" is a Delta.

The answer is "yes". Ms. Emily A. Studdard was initiated into Birmingham Alumnae Chapter. Please share this information with sorors in your area.

Please vote and ask everyone that you know to vote for Ruben on Tuesday, May
20, 2003. For the phone number to dial, please watch "American Idol" on Tuesday May 20, 2003.... and check your local listing for the time of airing in your area.

REMEMBER: You may vote as many times as you wish. If the line is busy, please try again.

Thank you for your continued support of a very talented young man who is the son of Soror Emily Studdard.

Soror Studdard may be contacted via e-mail at eastud@yahoo.com

Sincerely,
Jessyca J. McKnight

I voted for Clay a few times and even though Rueben is not my man, I voted for him once on the bond:cool:

I guess I'm looking at it from a biz perspective. Even Simon said on TV Guide that even if Rueben wins, Clay will make the most money from American Idol. Clay has great crossover appeal. Rueben has a good chance as well, but if they wait as long as they did with Kelly, his chance will diminish for that crossover appeal.

And another thing. This has to be the most racially charged A.I. I've ever seen. Trust that folks at Fox are worried(just a scoop) If Rueben wins, they face the "you let him win cause Tamarya lost" and worry about an "OJ" type reaction. and if Clay wins, they get Jesse Jackson at their front doorstep(XYZ's words, not mine). So best believe they are nervous.

Little 411 for ya

Clive shouldn't of said anything!

'Idol' favorite a really big talent--and that's the problem

May 20, 2003

BY BILL ZWECKER

Concerns about the health of Ruben Studdard --who many believe will win the second "American Idol" crown Wednesday--have surfaced after media reports that music uber-mogul Clive Davis is deeply worried about the singer's girth.

Davis allegedly fears that Stud-dard's 350-pound weight could lead to the kind of critical health crisis Davis' longtime friend and associate Luther Vandross is coping with. The singer is lying comatose and near death following the stroke he suffered April 16. Though Vandross slimmed down drastically several times, many thought his years of obesity and yo-yo dieting contributed to him suffering the stroke.

On numerous occasions, Stud-dard's lethargy onstage--assumed to be caused by his size--have generated concerns within the "American Idol" operation, but two very highly placed "A.I." honchos played down those reports Monday. They also denied that the enormous pressure of being one of two finalists on the show is any different than the kinds of pressures Kelly Clarkson and Justin Guarini faced last year.

"The only difference is that 'American Idol' is now a huge part of the national popular culture landscape. Appearing on the show turns these kids into instant celebrities, and the finalists are now so well-known to tens of millions of people," a key production staffer said Monday.

As for Ruben's weight and stage presence, another staffer said, "Certainly, we're all concerned about Ruben's health. Everyone knows the long-term effects of being tremendously overweight will eventually lead to serious health problems. That's something Ruben needs to start working on--and he knows it."

Another source close to Davis confirms that the recording industry legend is "deeply, deeply distraught about Vandross' condition. ... They are such good friends, and Clive is releasing his new album," but the source insists it is wrong to automatically merge Davis' thoughts about Vandross with his plans to produce the "American Idol" winner's first album.

"After all, it might just as easily be Clay [Aiken] who walks off as the winner Wednesday night." That having been said, "Clive--like so many who know and love Ruben--understands losing weight will be very important for him in the long term."

As for Vandross, Davis will release his new album, "Dance With My Father," on his J Records label in early June.

AKA2D '91:

AT&T Text Messaging is $.10 per SENT text message and free unlimited INCOMING messages. On all of their plans, you can buy text messages plans additionally: $1.99/month for 25 sent messages, $4.99/month for 100 sent messages and I believe $9.99 for 500 sent messages. (Can you tell I've been with AT&T for a while???)

I personally have the $4.99/month plan because I do my fair share of text messaging. This may sound wrong, but it comes in REALLLY handy during church when you need to get in touch with someone and you can't get up and leave to make a call!

I believe that if you bought a phone with them, and you're on their "American Idol" plan, that specific plan comes with a certain number of text messages included in the cost. Other than that, text messages are optional on all plans. Hope this helps!

BTW, I was only able to get through on the phone once but I did send 7 text messages! Goooooo Ruuuuuuuben!!!

And Clive Davis is wrong....that article was foul....comparing Ruben to Luther....and playing the weight card.....oooh!!! That has me fuming!!!
