New addition

What is the newest addition to the furnishings at the Chi Omega HQ in Memphis?

a.) an original oil painting by founder, Ina Mae Boles
b.) a new Xerox machine
c.) a sprinkler system for the Myth Garden
d.) a bust of Elvis

oncelurked 02-21-2005 05:25 PM

I'd like to guess B, just cuz.

It'd be way cooler if it was A, though

NutBrnHair 02-21-2005 05:32 PM

IT IS A!!!!

I can't keep this exciting news a secret any longer! A generous Arkansas couple have recently gifted this fabulous 1904 painting to the HQ. It's called A Tea Party and signed Ina Boles. (The picture does not do it justice!)

Does anyone have any new trivia questions? I'd try to think of some, but I think everything interesting I know has already been a question.

Oh, okay...here's one...

Allie Simonds, one of our founders, was not known as an artist, but she did illustrate a book written by Univ. of Arkansas professor Jerome McNeill entitled: REVISION OF THE TRUXALINAE OF NORTH AMERICA. What was the subject of her drawings?

a.) carnations
b.) grasshoppers
c.) owls
d.) lobsters

xo_kathy 03-17-2005 01:38 PM

I'm going with B - grasshoppers!

I googled the word and found it listed on a website outdoorbooks.com/bugs
They have an author signed copy for sale!

NutBrnHair 03-17-2005 02:50 PM

You are correct, Sister Kathy! (The book you saw on the website for sale was recently purchased and is on its way to the Chi Omega National Archives!)
