"We have more working black actors in key roles than pretty much all the other shows on the air. And yet you still hear people claim they can't find good African-American actors."

David Simon, Executive Producer

All in all, a good show. I never expect the first episode to be 'explosive' because that is not the nature of the Wire. Remember....all of the pieces matter! I can see so many places the various stories go, I can't wait for the journey.

That being said, Senusret you were right Dukie is huge! He cracked me up taking about what, he was going to be the nanny now and bake cookies. I hope he goes back to school, but I think that is too much to hope for.

I hope we get to hear about/see the other boys. I don't think they made it clear if Randy was dead or just hurt in that last episode. I hope Simon and company don't leave us hanging with that one! I would also like to see how Naymond is doing with the Major and his wife.

I think the newroom stories are going to be interesting. I will definately have to watch last night show again because I felt like I missed a lot of the dialouge in those meetings that I guess happen at 3 o'clock. Good to see what's his face from Homicide though

One thing that bothered me: when Chris came up to ask Rhonda/Daniels for directions in the court house. No one knew who the other was? Rhonda is getting warrents and all of that jazz and she has no idea who the heck Chris Partlow is? Daniels doesn't recognize him? Why would Chris even do that? Why not send someone else to do that especially since you know that you are being tailed everywhere? Oh well, I guess he really did not care, but I thought that was interesting.

That's part of why I love the Wire, it takes your mind through SOO much in that hour.

Dukie is not cut out to hustle like Micheal. But I was disappointed by the path M took last season. I didn't want him to go down that "lil soulja" path. I could kind of sense it from the beginning though, maybe thats why I had hope for him. I wanna see the rest of the boys as well. Is the school aspect of the show being cut out by the news room?

I was surprised by Chris as well. I think he did it on purpose. To let the police know that he and Marlow know they're being tailed and also to drop a hint about the guy who's file he checked. Maybe just to trow them off a little?

It's on demand already?!

The first episode was a little slow, but I was still glued to the TV. I *HEART* The Wire.

I was feeling a little bad for Bubbles, living in his sister's basement and having to leave when she left her house. But I can understand where she's coming from.

The previews following the first episode got me even more pumped about the upcoming episodes. My mouth dropped to the floor when I saw Avon Barksdale  I don't know why I assumed that his role would be cut when he was sentenced to prison last season.

I wish I had On Demand :(

But there had been rumors about him coming back. I assumed that he would be out of jail. I am interested to see how he fits in.

I think any references to what has happened on the show are spoilerish and kinda take some of the wind out for me. Even stuff like "It was so good! You won't believe what happened!" are too much for me because then I am on edge for some BIG Stringerbellgetsshot scene.

I am such a nerd about the entire thing I do not even want to get advance copies like a lot of folks did last year (and I could have). I wanted to see it once it aired for the entire country.

If you have HBO you have it on Demand. It comes free with the channel package.
