Okay, when browsing around the Bama Panhel recruitment site I noticed this statement in a section devoted to the topic of recs:

"Only alumnae, not current active members, can fill out a “rec” for a potentail new member."

It was my understanding that each NPC group has its own national policy about who can write a rec, and some but not all sororities permit undergrad actives to write recs. (Usually not for their own chapter, though. )

Not a biggie, I guess, but is the quoted statement correct, or is my understanding closer to current reality?

ETA: The statement quoted above appears on this page ( at least with my browser):

Maybe they just made that general statement because they are unaware of which groups allow collegians to write them?

And it's possible that allowing actives to write recs is a more recent occurrence. If no one's corrected them, they might honestly not know.

I thought you were transferring to Georgia? Or Clemson? Or Elon?

I can't give you specifics but I can tell you that there is a separate quota for upperclassman (which would include transfers).

An upperclassman quota does NOT mean that a sorority is obligated to take upperclassmen in its pledge class.

CYP :)
