I have never been so happy in my life to see these numbers. Such incredibly wonderful results this year at OSU!!! If you told me 10 years ago that one day we'd see results like this I would not have believed it. Congratulations to everyone on a job very well done!

Actually OSU lifted then 100 "hard total" and 25 "hard quota" right before the 2009 recruitment, so this is the third recruitment that true quota/total has been used. Quota was 22 in 2009 and 27 in 2010 - amazing that it was 32 this year!!

GREAT results. Daughter was quite impressed with the overall GPA's/accomplishments of the girls going through recruitment.

If you add in the Fall informal numbers (generally 8-16 I think) and quota of 32, that means that a number of sororities added anywhere from 40-48 new girls this year. that is a HUGE number for OSU.

I was always really surprised by OSU's numbers in relation to the size of the school. It surprised me that KSU had higher quota (usually) than such a large university.

IMO more girls getting in = more girls interested in the future. This is such a huge campus that it does seem like it should be one of those massive Greek systems. It has a lot of sororities, but not as many or as large as you'd think they could accommodate.
Congratulations to all of them on their apparent rebirth of late!

In the 80s, we had these numbers. There was, however, a chapter total of 105 then. There were 36 in my pledge class.

Agreed, that I am so excited for PHA at tOSU.

Forgive me if this has been discussed elsewhere.

Was the capped total a Panhellenic decision or a University mandate? What brought about the change? Was this something that the sorority members had been pushing for?

Very happy for all the OSU chapters, and agree with Dubai that increasing quotas can only help in visibility and interest by others on campus. Considering the size of the university, as well as the overal interest in Greek Life in the state of Ohio at other universities, it would be wonderful to see this trend continue.

Anyway, I would be interested to know the background of how this came about.

W&L - Quota = 30
KKG - 24
KD - 30
Pi Phi - 37
Theta - 32
XO - 32
ADPi - 34
(this is based off counting heads in PC photos, so may not be exact, but should be pretty close).

I think this was a university mandate.

There was a Rolling Stone article about 10 years ago that featured OSU sororities and made them, and the school in general, look really bad. Don't know if the two are related.

I have never heard that it was a university mandate and I would very much doubt it. The university is very much separate from Panhellenic.

I don't often have them handed to me that way. Usually, it is piecemeal through emails, Facebook and Twitter.
